A livestock water fountain comprises a first water chamber, a water inlet near the bottom of the first water chamber, and a thermostat in the first water chamber position above the inlet adjacent a preset low-water level in the chamber so as to measure the temperature of the water near the surface of the water. The fountain maybe divided into dual chambers with a wall having a lower passageway for fluid communication which can be plugged to limit water to one of the chambers when water consumption decreases in cold weather.

A system for remote care of an animal includes a robotic animal caregiver that has a housing, a wireless data communication system disposed within the housing and wirelessly communicatively coupled with an external data communications system, and a microprocessor in communication with the wireless data communication system disposed within the housing. The system further includes an aerial drone wirelessly communicatively coupled to the wireless data communication system of the robotic animal caregiver. The aerial drone includes a microprocessor, a wireless communication module, a video camera, the aerial drone configured to act in response to instructions issued by the microprocessor of the robotic animal caregiver.

A system for remote care of an animal includes a robotic animal caregiver that has a housing, a wireless data communication system disposed within the housing and wirelessly communicatively coupled with an external data communications system, and a microprocessor in communication with the wireless data communication system disposed within the housing. A system and method for providing a supplement. The system includes a pump having an inlet and an outlet line. The inlet line is coupled to a container, and the container has a supplement. The outlet of the pump is coupled to a nozzle. The system can be housed in a support box which is coupled to a feeder which has feed. Feed is discharged from the feeder, and the pump sprays a supplement to partially coat the discharged feed. Nutrients, vitamins, etc. can be added to the supplement which can add to the value of the feed.

A freeze-resistant watering nipple assembly comprising a watering nipple valve, a heat pipe, a sleeve in tight thermal contact with the nipple, a water-tight connection to a liquid containing container or supply pipe, and an outer shield enclosing an insulating space and/or insulation material is described, which thermally couples a watering nipple to a container or supply pipe via a sufficiently good thermal conduction path so that the nipple can be maintained at a temperature that is near the temperature of the liquid in the container or supply pipe. Further, the use of one or more freeze-resistant watering nipple assemblies with a thermally insulated container is described so that the unit comprising the nipple assembly or assemblies and the insulated container provides drinking water to animals, and in particular, birds in sub-freezing and in hot weather.

A communal snake hibernaculum, including a communal chamber having a lower end below a ground level at a hibernaculum site with a water zone at the lower end to hold rehydration water and a snake hibernaculum life zone above the water zone. The communal chamber has a snake entrance providing snake access to the life zone and includes snake support shelves within the communal chamber at a plurality of vertically-spaced locations, the snake support shelves including at least one shelf in the life zone. A water outlet opens through a sidewall of the communal chamber above the lower end of the communal chamber and below the life zone to prevent flooding of the life zone, and the sidewall is a wall of a container installed at the hibernaculum site.
