Extrudable oriented polymer composites

A novel tubular or profile shapes of co-extruded multilayer polymers. These materials contain tens to thousands of layers of milli-, micro- to nano-polymer layers. These new shapes contain contiguous layers of milli- to nano-polymer layers in three dimensions and these contiguous layers may be twisted or turned to further expand the potential microlayer geometries.

A floor may include a substrate having a top side and a bottom side. A top layer may be provided on the substrate. The top layer may consist of a printed thermoplastic film and a thermoplastic transparent or translucent layer provided on the printed thermoplastic film. The top layer may be directly adhered to the substrate by heat welding the printed thermoplastic film and the top side of the substrate, in the absence of a glue layer. The substrate may be a synthetic material board including a filler. The substrate at least at two opposite edges may include coupling means provided in the synthetic material board. The thermoplastic transparent or translucent layer may be provided with a structure.

The base of the flow guide is spaced apart from an upper surface of the spinneret, creating a space that is in fluid communication with the divergent flow passage.

The first material is one of a medium-density polyethylene modified with a friction-reducing additive or high-density polyethylene (HDPE) modified with a friction-reducing additive. The second material is a thermoplastic elastomer modified with a siloxane additive. The sheath is dividable longitudinally along the at least one stripe.

It is disclosed a process and an apparatus for manufacturing a figure of eight cable. An extrusion head has separate extrusion dies extruding in parallel a first and second outer sheath around a first and second core, respectively, so as to provide two separate cable elements having respective longitudinal axes laying in a first plane. While the outer sheaths are in a softened state, the cable elements are passed in parallel through a twisting die which causes their longitudinal axes to lay in a second plane forming a predetermined twisting angle with respect to the first plane. This twisting causes the outer sheaths to join together, thereby forming a figure of eight cable.
