The invention relates to additive manufacturing technologies and can be used for manufacturing parts and structures of composite materials reinforced by continuous fibers. The technical result is improving physical and mechanical characteristics and reducing the weight of products having a complex shape made of composite materials.

The technical result is achieved by a print head containing a mechanism for supplying a plastic filament, a mechanism for supplying a reinforcing fiber, a mechanism for cutting the reinforcing fiber, a feed tube for the plastic filament, feed tubes for the reinforcing fiber and a heating unit. Furthermore, the heating unit contains a heater, a thermocouple or thermoresistor, and two inlet channelsa channel for the reinforcing fiber and a channel for the plastic filamentand a nozzle having an outlet channel for the reinforced plastic. Furthermore, the channel for the plastic filament is connected to the channel for the reinforcing fiber inside the heating unit, while the inlet channel for the reinforcing fibre is arranged coaxially with the outlet channel for the reinforced plastic. The invention makes it possible to increase the physical and mechanical characteristics of the product, to reduce the weight of the product, to reduce the cost of manufacture of complex shape products from composite materials.

An extruder has a valve assembly configured to move pins to open and close the nozzles in a multi-nozzle extruder head independently. The pins of the valve assembly that are driven by actuators into and out of engagement with nozzles in the extruder head are positioned within sleeves that extend between the valve assembly and the extruder head. A gap is provided between the extruder head and the end of the sleeves proximate the extruder head to enable thermoplastic material leaking from the extruder that contacts the pins to remain in a melted or plastic state so the thermoplastic material does not interfere with the movement of the pins.

The apparatus may further include one or more finishing tables positioned after the outlet end of the die for receiving and moving the extruded resin away from the outlet end of the die so that there is no backpressure on the extruded resin, and which provide compression force and even cooling to the extruded resin.

A method for replacing one or more components of a lip adjustment assembly mounted to a die body of an extrusion die is disclosed. Initially, a translating unit of the lip adjustment assembly is accessed through an exposed end of the lip adjustment assembly. Then, an adjustment actuator is removed from a translator of the translating unit. The translator is decoupled from a rod of the translating unit so that the translator is removable from the lip adjustment assembly and with respect to the rod. Next, the translator is removed from the lip adjustment assembly and a first component of the translating unit is replaced with a second component of the translating unit.
