One or more cams are pivotally mounted within the bores and have one or more recessed areas formed into the respective peripheral surfaces thereof. The one or more cams are rotatable within the die body to dynamically, independently vary the width or shape of the respectively dispensed one or more fluid coatings.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR DEPOSITING AN EXTRUDABLE SUBSTANCE ONTO A SURFACE
A method of depositing an extrudable substance comprises, with a cartridge positioned inside a sleeve between an inner tubular sleeve wall and an outer tubular sleeve wall, circumscribing the inner tubular sleeve wall, and also positioned between a twist-lock pressure cap, hermetically coupled with the cartridge, and a valve, communicatively coupled with the cartridge, linearly moving an annular plunger, received between an inner tubular cartridge wall and an outer tubular cartridge wall, circumscribing the inner tubular cartridge wall, toward the valve along a first axis to urge the extrudable substance from the cartridge, through the valve, and out of a nozzle that is communicatively coupled with the valve. The method also comprises controlling flow of the extrudable substance from the valve to the nozzle.
METHODS FOR DISPENSING AND ADHERING HOT MELT ENTRAINED POLYMERS TO SUBSTRATES
Disclosed are an entrained polymer or an entrained polymer composition, and a method for forming and adhering an entrained polymer structure to a substrate using the entrained polymer or an entrained polymer composition. The method includes providing a substrate configured to receive application of a molten entrained polymer. A particulate entrained polymer in molten form is applied in a predetermined shape, to a surface of the substrate, to form a solidified entrained polymer structure on the substrate. The entrained polymer includes a monolithic material formed of at least a base polymer and a particulate active agent. The surface of the substrate is compatible with the molten entrained polymer so as to thermally bond with it. In this way, the entrained polymer bonds to the substrate and solidifies upon sufficient cooling of the entrained polymer.
Additive manufacturing system having multi-channel nozzle
A system is disclosed for use in additively manufacturing a composite structure. The system may include a matrix reservoir, and a fiber guide configured to separately receive a plurality of matrix-wetted reinforcements from the matrix reservoir. The system may also include a die configured to receive the plurality of matrix-wetted reinforcements from the fiber guide and to cause the plurality of matrix-wetted reinforcements to converge into a ribbon. The system may additionally include a cure enhancer configured to cure the matrix in the composite material during discharge of the ribbon from the die, and a support configured to move the die in multiple dimensions during discharge of the ribbon.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR DEPOSITING AN EXTRUDABLE SUBSTANCE ONTO A SURFACE
A method of depositing an extrudable substance onto a surface comprises (1) with a cartridge positioned inside a sleeve between an inner tubular sleeve wall and an outer tubular sleeve wall, circumscribing the inner tubular sleeve wall, and also positioned between a push-lock pressure cap, hermetically coupled with the cartridge, and a valve, communicatively coupled with the cartridge, linearly moving an annular plunger, received between an inner tubular cartridge wall and an outer tubular cartridge wall, circumscribing the inner tubular cartridge wall, toward the valve along a first axis to urge the extrudable substance from the cartridge, through the valve, and out of a nozzle that is communicatively coupled with the valve; and (2) controlling flow of the extrudable substance from the valve to the nozzle.
Coextrusion adapter
A coextrusion adapter, including a central conduit having an inlet end and an outlet end and having bottom and top walls that define the height of the central conduit and side walls that define the width of the central conduit, as well as at least one coextrusion conduit having an inlet end and an outlet end. The outlet end feeds into the central conduit near or in the vicinity of the bottom and/or top wall thereof, downstream of the inlet end of the central conduit, and adjusting devices are provided, which are allocated to each outlet end of the at least one coextrusion conduit and are composed of a plurality of adjusting elements, which collectively extend across the width of the outlet end and by actuating drives, are adjustable independently of one another so that it is possible to change the inner width of the respective width section of the outlet end. Adjacent to the outlet end at least one of the side walls has a receiving bore into which it is possible to insert a displacing element that protrudes beyond the side wall into the central conduit.
