MODIFIED TIRE SEALANT MIXING DEVICE
A mixing and extrusion machine for tire sealant materials of the type comprising: a dump extruder equipped with conical converging twin screws located in a batching chamber, said chamber having a low pressure feeding area and a high pressure ducted area; a removable blind flange for temporarily sealing the outlet of said batching chamber so that said material is forced to recirculate between said duct area and said feeding area within said batching chamber, said chamber thereby also acting as a compounding chamber; and an inlet port located in the high pressure ducted area, the inlet port capable of introducing a diluent during mixing of a tire sealant material.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR HANDLING A DIE UNIT FOR A SHEET EXTRUSION SYSTEM
A method of, and apparatus for, handling a first die unit usable on a sheet extrusion system. The method includes the steps of: obtaining a carriage; placing the first die unit in a supported staging position on the carriage, the carriage configured so that with the first die unit in the supported staging position the first die unit can be moved guidingly around an axis; with the first die unit in the supported staging position, moving the first die unit guidingly around the axis to a desired angular orientation to thereby facilitate access to one or more identified regions of the first die unit; and performing an operation at the one or more identified regions of the first die unit.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CLEANING AN EXTRUDER FOR ELASTOMER MIXTURES
Device for cleaning an extruder intended to operate with elastomeric mixtures comprising a frame (11) supporting a screw (2) and a barrel (1), the screw (2) being made to rotate about the longitudinal axis (X-X) of the barrel (2) when it is rotationally driven by drive means, the barrel comprising an elastomeric-mixture feed inlet (3) and an outlet (4) opening directly into an extrusion die (21) mounted on a support (20).
According to the invention, the frame (11) is mounted with the ability to move translationally with respect to the die (21) support (20) in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis X-X between a first position in which the barrel (1) and the die (21) are in sealed contact to allow the elastomeric mixture to pass through the die (21) and a second position in which the barrel (1) is moved away from the die (21) in order to perform cleaning, the parting line between the barrel (1) and the die being substantially axisymmetric with respect to the axis X-X and in that the said device comprises an automatic coupling mechanism (40) for quickly locking and unlocking the barrel (1) and the die (21) and allowing the frame (11) to move between the two positions.
TYRE STRIP EXTRUSION APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING TREAD AND/OR SIDE STRIPS FOR TYRES, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A TREAD OR SIDE STRIP OF A TYRE
A tyre strip extrusion apparatus includes extruders and an extrusion head which includes a head housing having feed openings respectively connected to the extruders for feed of extrusion material. An injection moulding tool is connected to the head housing and includes a profile plate formed with an outlet opening which communicates with the feed openings for extrusion material to flow from the feed openings to the outlet opening for extruding a web from the extrusion material. Bearing against the head housing along a first parting surface is a first distributor plate. A second distributor plate is arranged upstream of the profile plate in flow direction of the extrusion material. The first distributor plate bears along a second parting surface against the second distributor plate. The first and second distributor plates are configured such that at least a majority of the material paths runs through the first and second parting surfaces.
DIE MOUNTED CONTACT APPLICATOR
A slot die assembly for applying at least one material onto a substrate includes an adapter having a passive heat transfer device, a shim package fluidically connected to the adapter, the shim package having a first material discharge slot and a second material discharge slot, and a die plate having a one or more fluid channels fluidically connected to the shim package. The assembly also includes one or more mounting studs extending from the adapter, the mounting studs configured to engage a parent machine.
EXTRUSION DIE HAVING THERMALLY RESPONSIVE LIP ADJUSTMENT ASSEMBLY
An extrusion die includes a first die body having a first lip, and a second die body having a second lip. A lip adjustment assembly is mounted to the first die body and configured to adjust the position of the first lip relative to the second lip to thereby adjust a thickness of the extrudate that exits the gap. The lip adjustment has translating unit that includes translator, a mounting member coupled to the translator, and a rod coupled to the mounting member so that the translator is fixed with respect to the rod. The mounting member is configured to be accessible from the exposed end to decouple the translator from the rod so as to remove the translator from the lip adjustment assembly.
System and method for manufacturing cylindrical foam articles
The present teachings provide a system and method for producing a cylindrical foam article. The method can include coupling a first end of an outlet adaptor to a die, and coupling the die to a die housing of an extruder. The method can also include coupling a substantially cylindrical die outlet to a second end of the outlet adaptor, and substantially continuously extruding a polymer through the outlet adaptor into the die outlet to create the cylindrical foam article with a natural skin formed about a perimeter of the cylindrical foam article.
Resin discharge mechanism having cooled slide bar
To suppress the thermal expansion of a slide bar and to prevent occurrence of failures such as galling or malfunctioning to the slide bar, a resin discharge mechanism, provided in mixing equipment that includes a barrel having a hollow interior and a pair of mixing rotors accommodated in the barrel and that mixes a resin material by causing the paired mixing rotors to rotate within the barrel, for discharging a part of the resin material mixed by the mixing rotors to an outside of the barrel, the resin discharge mechanism including: a resin discharge passage provided in the barrel, and communicating an inside of the barrel with the outside of the barrel; a slide bar closing or opening the resin discharge passage by moving across the resin discharge passage; and a cooling device provided within the slide bar, and cooling the slide bar using a cooling fluid.
INTEGRATED SINGLE AND TWIN SCREW EXTRUDER
An extruder is disclosed, and more particularly, to an integrated single screw extruder and a twin screw extruder for mixing, compounding, kneading and/or extruding of materials. The integrated extruder includes a first barrel assembly and a second barrel assembly. The integrated extruder further includes a first screw having a first threaded portion and a second threaded portion. The first threaded portion is housed within the first barrel assembly and is configured to provide upstream material processing.
