A melt processing plant including a melt charger for charging a processing head, in particular a pelletizing head, with melt, is provided. Upstream of the processing head a diverter valve for discharging the melt during a starting and/or retooling phase is associated with the melt charger, and a portioning device for portioning the discharged melt into melt portions is associated to the diverter valve. A cooling device for cooling the melt portions to at least partly solidified chunks of material is also provided, the cooling device including a cooling bath having an associated belt conveyor with a first collecting belt portion inclined at an acute angle to the horizontal and extending through the level of the cooling bath for collecting chunks of solidified material.

HEAT-INSULATING SHROUD FOR FACILITATING TEMPERATURE CONTROL OF A HEATED DEVICE OR PRODUCT
20170173840 · 2017-06-22 · ·

A heat-insulating shroud for facilitating temperature control of a heated article includes a flexible cover, made from a heat-insulating material, for covering a surface of the heated article, at least one air inlet defined in a first section of the flexible cover, and at least one air outlet defined in a second section of the flexible cover. In a cooling mode of operation, the flexible cover defines an air channel over the surface of the heated article for channeling an air stream from the air inlet(s) over the surface of the heated article towards the air outlet(s). The channeling of the air stream facilitates cooling the heated article. In a heat-conservation mode of operation, the flexible cover of heat-insulating material insulates the heated article from heat loss. Each air outlet may have a closure that opens during the cooling mode of operation and closes during the heat-conservation mode of operation.

Extrusion system

An extrusion system, for example for extruding a food product, that includes: an extruder, which propels extrudate through an outlet of the extruder; and a valve. The valve includes: an inlet, which receives extrudate from the extruder outlet; a main conduit, which extends from the inlet to a main outlet; a dumping conduit, which extends from a junction with the main conduit to a dumping outlet; and a flow control member, which is operable to move between: a plurality of flow controlling positions, in which extrudate is directed to the main outlet, with the flow control member providing, for each flow controlling position, a respective amount of impedance to flow along the main conduit; and a flow diverting position, in which extrudate is directed along the dumping conduit to the dumping outlet.

Process for Manufacturing Panels for Floor and Wall Coverings

The present invention relates to a process for the production of panels for floor or wall coverings comprising the steps of mixing and homogenising raw materials, thereby obtaining a dryblend, extruding said dryblend, thereby obtaining one or more thermoplastic layers, laminating the afore-mentioned thermoplastic layers, thereby obtaining a panel for floor or wall coverings, wherein said raw materials and/or said dryblend are predominantly transported vertically downwards during the weighing, mixing and/or homogenising of said raw materials and during the feeding of said dryblend to extruders via feeding units,

MULTILAYER ARTICLE WITH VARIEGATED APPEARANCE
20170138047 · 2017-05-18 ·

A variegated capstock for covering a substrate for a building product has polymeric streaks in a non-clear, non-opaque matrix. Rapid cooling of the matrix minimizes formation of crystallites, such that the polymeric streaks become visible through a surface of the non-opaque matrix. The streaks are visible by having a color or an index of refraction different from that of the matrix. The matrix is in one or more layers, and the polymeric streaks are in the layers. The substrate is visible through the non-clear, non-opaque matrix and can appear partially obscured by the non-clear, non-opaque matrix.
