The body includes a soluble-fiber matrix and nicotine or a derivative thereof dispersed in the soluble-fiber matrix. A nicotine lozenge may include at least 40 weight percent of soluble fiber. Soluble fiber in a nicotine lozenge may include maltodextrin. The nicotine lozenge is adapted to release the nicotine or a derivative thereof from the body when the body is received within the oral cavity of an adult consumer and exposed to saliva. A method of making nicotine lozenges includes forming a molten mixture of at least 40 weight percent soluble fiber, nicotine, and less than 15 weight percent water while maintaining a mixture temperature of less than 150° C. and portioning the molten mixture into a plurality of nicotine lozenges. The ingredients can be mixed to form the molten mixture in an extruder.

A modular disk coextrusion die is formed of a plurality of cells stacked together. Each cell includes an arrangement of thin annular disks, including at least a first cap disk, a first distribution disk, a first transition disk and a first spreader disk. The modular disk coextrusion die includes at least one channel disk having at least one inlet opening and at least two outlet openings per inlet opening. The thin annular disks are configured so that a first of the outlet openings of the channel disk is in fluid communication with the first distribution disk in the first cell and a second of the outlet openings in the channel disk is in fluid communication with the first distribution disk in the second cell. The channel disk provides for a more efficient utilization of space at the inlet of the modular disk coextrusion die and enables the feeding of up to twenty melt streams.

Device and method for producing a dyed and an undyed plastic melt

A device for producing a dyed plastic melt and an undyed plastic melt includes a multi-shaft screw extruder, a first metering installation, a second metering installation, and a control installation for selecting between a first operating mode for producing the dyed plastic melt and a second operating mode for producing the undyed plastic melt. The first metering installation serves for feeding an undyed plastic material through a first infeed opening into a housing of the multi-shaft screw extruder, and the second metering installation serves for feeding at least one color granulate through a second infeed opening into the housing. The plastic material is fed exclusively by way of the first infeed opening such that residual color granulate or dyeing agent contained therein, respectively, which is still located in the second metering installation or in the region of the second infeed opening does not contaminate the undyed plastic melt.

THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE CONTAINIG A POLYSILOXANE CAPROLACTONE POLYOL

A heat resistant thermoplastic polyurethane composition is made by a reaction including a polyol component comprising the reaction product of a polysiloxane with ε-caprolactone.

A meat replacement product, a method of manufacturing the same, the use of insoluble washable starch in food products, and a twin-screw extruder

A meat replacement product, a method of manufacturing the same, and the use of insoluble washable starch in food products to improve the mouthfeel of a meat replacement product. Improvements to meat replacement products and high moisture protein texturization extrusion are disclosed. By selecting the extrusion parameters and starting materials containing mechanically processed starch-containing grains suitably, the formation of an emulsion between the starch and proteinaceous matrix forming protein melt can be prevented or reduced to such an extent that there exists a substantial amount of starch that is not bound in the protein matrix. The presence of starch not bound in the protein matrix improves mouthfeel and sustains an acceptable mouthfeel for a prolonged period.

MIXING DEVICE

A mixing device includes a base, a side tube and a primary extruder screw. The base includes an upper case body and a lower case body cooperating with each other to define an accommodating space. The upper case body has a first inlet and a second inlet communicating with the accommodating space and adapted respectively for passage of two materials into the accommodating space therethrough. The lower case body has a third inlet communicating with the accommodating space. The side tube cooperates with the third inlet to be adapted for passage of elastic fillers into the accommodating space therethrough. The primary extruder screw is operable for mixing the elastic fillers with a reaction product made by the two materials to form a molding material.

METHOD OF MAKING FLAT FOAM SHEET COMPRISING RECYCLED PET AND THE PRODUCT RESULTING THEREFROM

A method of making multilayer foam sheet from recycled polyester sources, which may be used for packaging applications. The method comprises a co-extrusion system comprising at least two single screw extruders. A low I.V. polyester feedstock comprising up to 100% of the polyester flakes from recycled sources with an intrinsic viscosity (I.V.) of lower than 0.8 dL/g as measured by ASTM D4603-18 is directly being fed into the extruders. Supercritical physical blowing agent is introduced into the melted polyester feedstock in at least one of the extruders wherein the processing temperature is in the range of 15% lower than the melting temperature and 15% higher than the melting temperature. Then, coextruding the feedstock from the extruders of the co-extrusion system through a flat sheet die to make a multilayer foam sheet, wherein at least one layer is a foam layer comprising low I.V. polyester.
