METHOD FOR PRODUCING FLUORORESIN FILM
To provide a method for producing a fluororesin film, whereby defects due to deterioration (such as fish-eyes due to gelation) of a melt-processable fluororesin are less likely to occur during the production. A method for producing a fluororesin film, which comprises extruding a fluororesin material containing a melt-processable fluororesin through an extruder die, wherein the temperature of the extruder die is from 305 to 355 C., and the average flow velocity v.sub.0.95 of the fluororesin material as obtained by v.sub.0.95=Q.sub.0.95/A.sub.0.95, is at least 110.sup.4 m/sec. Here, when the distance from the flow inlet 22 of the extruder die to the end of the manifold 24 of the extruder die is set to be x=1, Q.sub.0.95 is the flow rate (m.sup.3/sec) of the fluororesin material flowing in the manifold 24 at a position of x=0.95 from the flow inlet 22, and A.sub.0.95 is the cross-sectional area (m.sup.2) of the manifold 24 at a position of x=0.95 from the flow inlet 22.
A NOZZLE AND A TUNDISH ARRANGEMENT FOR THE GRANULATION OF MOLTEN MATERIAL
A nozzle, a tundish arrangement used for the production of granulated material, and a method and apparatus for the production of a granulated material with an improved size distribution are provided. The grain size and grain size distribution is controlled by a nozzle having a specific design. The nozzle comprises an upper inlet opening, sidewalls forming a channel, a bottom and at least one outlet opening or at least one row of outlet openings at the lower end of the channel. The outlet opening(s) in the channel have a size of at least 5 mm in the smallest dimension. A cross sectional area of the channel at the inlet A.sub.C is at least 3 times bigger than the total area of the outlet openings A.sub.T.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ADJUSTING THE LAND CHANNEL LENGTH ON AN EXTRUSION DIE
An extrusion die with adjustable land channel can be formed of a die body that includes a first die body portion and a second die body portion, a first lip body, a second lip body, and a land channel body. The extrusion die can have a flow channel that includes a land channel terminating in an outlet orifice. The flow channel may be bound on one side by the first die body portion, the land channel body, and the first lip body. The flow channel may be bound on an opposite side by the second die body portion and the second lip body. In some examples, the length of the land channel is adjustable by configuring the land channel body and/or first lip body to move across the width of the flow channel.
PROCESS FOR FORMING A DIVIDED CONDUIT
A process for extruding a divided conduit comprising obtaining an extrusion die head, inserting a strip-shaped substrate into the extrusion die head such that the strip shaped substrate is located within the tip gap and extends at least partially out of the tip gap such that the longitudinal edges are located in the die gap, and flowing molten polymer through die gap, encapsulating the longitudinal edges of the strip-shaped substrate in molten polymer. The extrusion die head contains a tip region and a bushing. The tip region contains at least 2 tips separated by a tip gap. The bushing extends around the tip region and the distance between the tip region and the inner surface of the bushing is defined to be the die gap and the die gap varies around the bushing.
Method of making uniform spunbond filament nonwoven webs
A method of making nonwoven webs comprising providing a spinneret including a pattern of conduits forming an extrusion region; directing only a first stream of molten propylene polymer into a region adjacent the first side of the spinneret, directing only a second stream of molten propylene polymer into a region distal to the first side of the spinneret, extruding only the first stream propylene polymer through the exit openings in a first zone where the exit opening comprises exit ports in the first zone having a first density; extruding only the second stream propylene polymer through the exit openings of a second zone where the exit opening comprises exit ports in the second zone having a second density less than the first density; and the second zone is distal to the first side with the first zone being between the second zone and the first side.
