Powder coating composition system and process
A system and process for producing a homogenous extrudate powder coating composition having predetermined properties, the system comprising a color library database that is configured to store one or more input formulation data objects capable of use in controlling the inputs and operation of an electronically controlled homogenous extrudate mixer.
Extruded board with realistic appearance
In one embodiment, a method of forming an extruded board includes mixing a resin and a foaming agent, melting the mixed resin and foaming agent to form a uniformly colored extrudate, differentially expanding voids formed from the foaming agent within the uniformly colored extrudate by passing the uniformly colored extrudate through a breaker plate, forming a board with the differentially expanded voids and uniformly colored extrudate, and forming lightened portions on an outermost surface of the formed board.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONSOLIDATING A BULK MOLDING COMPOUND
Methods and an apparatus are presented. A bulk molding compound is consolidated by sending the bulk molding compound through a die breaker and an extrusion die of a consolidation system.
Method and device for the manufacture of annular extrudates
A device (4) for the manufacture of an annular extrudate comprises a jacket (2), a crosshead (1) arranged inside of the jacket. The jacket contains a melt passage, whereby the crosshead is arranged in the melt passage, such that the melt passage extends et least at the outlet of the device as an annular melt passage around the crosshead (1). An annular passage (5) is formed between the crosshead and the jacket. The annular passage contains a static mixer (3), whereby the crosshead is at least partially supported by the static mixer in the jacket. The static mixer comprises a plurality of inserts, whereby at least a portion of the inserts is connected to the crosshead and/or the jacket.
MELT CONVEYOR FOR AN EXTRUSION TOOL OF AN EXTRUSION SYSTEM, EXTRUSION TOOL, EXTRUSION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPERATING AN EXTRUSION SYSTEM OF THIS TYPE
The invention relates to a melt conductor (1), in particular a melt distributor or melt mixer, for an extruding die (2) of an extrusion facility (3), comprising a melt conductor block (4) with a multi-channel system (5), the multi-channel system (5) being arranged inside the melt conductor block (4) with three-dimensional extension and having at least one input (6) and at least one output (7) for polymer melt, between one input (6) and one output (7) fluidically connected to the input (6) several branchings (8) arranged in series and several levels (9a) of sub-branches (10) being formed over several levels (12a, 12b) of divided melt channels (11a, 11b); with m melt channels (11a) of the a.sup.th level (12a) with X.sup.th local cross-sections and n melt channels (11b) of the b.sup.th level (12b) with y.sup.th local cross-sections being present, wherein n>m if b>a, the y.sup.th local cross-sections of the melt channels (11b) of the b.sup.th level (12b) being smaller than the X.sup.th local cross-sections of the melt channels (11a) of the a.sup.th level (12a). The invention further relates to an extruding die, an extrusion facility and to a method of operating the extrusion facility.
APPARATUS FOR FORMING A POLYMERIC WEB
The present invention is directed to an apparatus for forming a multi-layer web formed from at least two polymeric film tubes in intimate contact with each other but not bonded to each other. The apparatus includes the use of a blown film extrusion die that extrudes two separate blown film polymeric tubes via two separate annular die lips. A fluid cooling system applies cooling fluid across a plurality of surfaces of the two blown film tubes. One of the die lips may be at a different height from the other die lip. The frost line of one blown film tube may be at a different height from the other blown film tube.
MIXING DEVICE IN THE SCREW ANTECHAMBER OF A TWIN-SCREW EXTRUDER
The invention relates to a mixing device for a twin-screw extruder, in particular a twin-screw extruder rotating in the opposite direction, comprising a first screw and a second screw, for mixing a melt flow in a screw antechamber, wherein the first screw has an extension in the form of a mixing screw tip connected to the first screw in a fixed manner, and a first melt channel, into which the first screw feeds, is arranged in a flow-connected manner via an elongated slot with a second melt channel, into which the second screw feeds.
POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE COLORING SYSTEMS AND RELATED METHODS
A method of manufacturing a plurality of colors of bulked continuous carpet filament from a single multi-screw extruder which, in various embodiments, comprises: (A) passing PET through an extruder that melts the PET and purifies the resulting PET polymer melt; (B) adding a liquid colorant to the polymer melt using a liquid metering system; (C) using one or more static mixers (e.g., up to forty static mixers) to substantially uniformly mix (e.g., homogeneously mix) the polymer melt and the liquid colorant; and (D) feed the uniformly mixed and colored polymer melt into a spinning machines that turns the polymer into filament for use in manufacturing carpet, rugs, and other products.
