Extrusion system and method for blown film with integral profiles
A system and method for extruding film with a thickened profile section. In some embodiments, the film forms bags with integral zipper profiles. Plastic film is extruded to form a tube. During extrusion, each thickened profile section is radiantly cooled in a preferential manner before thinner sections of the film freeze. A freezing control device includes at least one radiant cooling plate that is operatively aligned with a thickened profile section. The device also includes a cooling fluid recirculation system configured to maintain the plate at a temperature below the temperature of the extruded tube. The plate can be adjustably mounted on a base for positioning the plate at the desired orientation for cooling the thickened profile section of the tube.
Adjustable venturi ring
An apparatus includes an upper lip positioned with respect to an air flow passage. The upper lip is to direct air flow from the air flow passage around a bubble of blown film. The apparatus further includes a Venturi ring movably mounted with respect to the upper lip and adjustable in position with respect to the upper lip. The Venturi ring is to adjustably lock the bubble of blown film.

BLOWN FILM MATERIALS AND PROCESSES FOR MANUFACTURING THEREOF AND USES THEREOF
Provided herein are blown films with encapsulated active agents, such as volatile anti-microbial agents, suitable for use as food packaging materials. Also provided herein are methods of manufacturing such blown films. The methods include extruding a bubble from molten polymers, dispensing active agents inside the bubble, and collapsing the bubble such that the bubble self-adheres to form a film with the active agents encapsulated.
EXTERNAL COOLING AIR RING FOR BLOWN- FILM EXTRUSION
An air ring comprises a circular plenum in fluid communication with a source of pressurized air. An upper and lower annular lips are in fluid communication with the plenum through upper and lower channels and are arranged to supply air to the blown film bubble. A plurality of vanes are disposed in the upper channel and extend radially inwardly from the plenum to the upper annular lip. The vanes divide the upper channel into a plurality of radially extending channel segments. Each vane has a selected length and a distal end proximal the upper annular lip, the distal end being spaced from the upper annular lip no greater than about 20% of the length of the vanes. A powered plunger extends between the vanes of each of the channel segments to vary the cross-sectional area of the channel segments.
METHOD FOR MARKING A DECORATIVE ARTICLE
An in-line method for marking a substrate made of extruded synthetic material, the method including the steps of extruding the synthetic material through an extrusion die to form the substrate, marking the substrate by scrolling the substrate obtained from the extrusion die between two rotatably mounted and temperature-controlled rollers with an upper roller and a lower roller, one of the rollers having an impression forming the negative of a decoration or a texture to be marked on one face of the substrate, this same roller or the other of the rollers including at least one notch allowing to guide the substrate as it passes through the extrusion die and between the two rollers. An installation can include in line the extrusion die and the marking device.
Apparatus for forming a protecting duct with integrated inner and outer walls, and the duct formed thereby
According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a cylindrical sizing machine is located next to the inner-wall dice, which reduces the outer diameter of the inner wall to a desired length as it passes from the entry point into which the semi-solid inner wall is introduced to the end point; a coolant flow path, through which the coolant is supplied from an external source, is formed within the inner-wall dice and the inner-wall sizing machine; a guide support rod is installed, extending from the inner-wall dice to the inside of the outer-wall sizing machine; an inner-wall guide supported by the guide support rod is installed in the outer-wall sizing machine at the position where the shaping occurs: and the semi-solid inner wall passes between the inner-wall guide and the outer wall being shaped for tight integration with the outer wall by means of pressurization.
FUNCTIONAL TEXTILES AND MANUFACTURING METHODS
Disclosed are textile fibers, yarns, and fabrics having improved comfort and water and odor adsorption properties, and methods of manufacturing same. The improved textiles have an increased distribution of adsorbing particles distributed at the surface of the fibers and yarns to enable greater overall surface area for adsorbance.
Ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer film and method for producing same
To provide an ETFE film which is unlikely to wrinkle when stretched and retracted, and a method for producing the same. It is an ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer film characterized in that the crystallinity obtained by the formula (1) from the peak area S.sub.20 in the vicinity of 2=20, the peak area S.sub.19 in the vicinity of 2=19 and the peak area S.sub.17 in the vicinity of 2=17 in the diffraction intensity curve obtained by the X-ray diffraction method, is from 55 to 70%, and the proportion of the quasi-crystal layer obtained by the formula (2) is from 10 to 20%:
crystallinity (%)=(S.sub.19+S.sub.2)/(S.sub.17+S.sub.19+S.sub.20)100(1)
proportion of quasi-crystal layer (%)=S.sub.20/(S.sub.17+S.sub.19++S.sub.20)100(2).
