ARTICLES, DIES AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
Articles (100, 200, 300) comprising first (101, 201, 301) and second layers (102, 202, 302) each having first and second opposed major surfaces and between the first and second layers a series of first walls (110, 210, 310) having aspect ratios between 1.5 and 5 providing a series of microchannels, and methods for making the same. Embodiment of coextruded articles described herein are useful, for example, in cushioning applications where high levels of compression are desired.
LOOSE TUBE-TYPE OPTICAL CABLE PRODUCTION DEVICE AND PRODUCTION METHOD
There is disclosed a production device for a loose tube-type optical cable in which an optical fiber bundle is housed in a tube. The production device includes: a resin extruder configured to extrude and coat a resin onto the optical fiber bundle; and a water tank configured to store cooling water for cooling the resin to form the tube, wherein: the resin extruder includes: an extruder die having an extrusion port for the resin; a pipe penetrating the extruder die; and an air pump mechanism configured to pump air to the pipe; and the water tank includes: a sizing die having an inlet, a passage port, and a suction port for the cooling water; and a cooling water suction mechanism configured to suck the cooling water from the sizing die.
Systems and method for manufacturing pellets from mixed plastics
Systems and methods for forming pellets from mixed plastic materials are disclosed. An example method may include a method for forming pellets from mixed plastic materials without needing to screen or filter the mixed plastic materials. The method may include disposing a mixed plastic material into an extrusion apparatus, advancing the mixed plastic material through a die to form strands, and cutting the strands into a plurality of pellets.
Thermoplastic Polymer Particles and Method for Manufacturing Same
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing thermoplastic polymer particles, and the thermoplastic polymer particles, the method comprising the steps of: (1) extruding a thermoplastic polymer resin through an extruder; (2) spraying the extruded thermoplastic polymer resin through a nozzle and then spraying a gas to the sprayed thermoplastic polymer resin through a plurality of sprayers so as to granulate same; and (3) cooling the granulated thermoplastic polymer resin.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING ELECTRICAL CABLE, AND RESULTING PRODUCT, WITH REDUCED REQUIRED INSTALLATION PULLING FORCE
Disclosed are cable types, including a type THHN cable, the cable types having a reduced surface coefficient of friction, and the method of manufacture thereof, in which the central conductor core and insulating layer are surrounded by a material containing nylon or thermosetting resin. A silicone based pulling lubricant for said cable, or alternatively, erucamide or stearyl erucamide for small cable gauge wire, is incorporated, by alternate methods, with the resin material from which the outer sheath is extruded, and is effective to reduce the required pulling force between the formed cable and a conduit during installation.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF MAKING A MESH CUSHION
A method of making a mesh cushion. The method includes extruding a material through a plurality of filament forming openings in at least one die plate to form a plurality of filaments. The filaments may be at least partially submerged into a fluid to cool and harden the filaments into the mesh cushion.
Polyamide apparel textile yarns and fabrics and garments made therefrom
An apparel textile yarn includes a polyamide. The polyamide includes a nylon and a polyetheramine. The polyetheramine has a molecular weight of at least 1500 and an Amine Hydrogen Equivalent Weight (AHEW) of less than 10 percent higher than the idealized AHEW for the polyetheramine. The polyamide may have a moisture regain ranging from about 10% to about 30%.
CUSHIONING STRUCTURES INCLUDING INTERCONNECTED CELLS
Cushioning articles or structures are provided including a cell layer with an array of cells interconnected with each other. Each of the cells includes at least three cell walls extending between the first and second major surfaces thereof. The cell walls are shared by the adjacent cells, and the cell layer further includes a land region located at the second major surface and connecting the at least three cell walls. A base layer is attached to the second major surface of the cell layer to form a sheet.
POLYPROPYLENE FOR FILMS
The present disclosure provides polypropylene compositions that have a high gloss and minimum or no haze while also having a high melt strength (e.g., high temperature resistance) and a relative high stiffness. Polypropylene compositions contain one or more base polypropylenes (e.g., trimmed polypropylenes (tPPs)) and one or more clarifying agents. The base or trimmed polypropylene contains at least 50 mol % of propylene and has a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) in a range from 7 to 22, a z-average molecular weight of less than 2,500,000 g/mol, a branching index (g′.sub.vis) of at least 0.95, and a melt strength of less than 20 cN determined using an extensional rheometer at 190° C. The base or trimmed polypropylene can be produced from one or more high melt strength polypropylenes (HMS PPs).
