Fibre flattening
A method of forming a fibre article, comprising: providing a former having a contoured forming surface; locating a fibre preform between a first diaphragm and a second diaphragm, the second diaphragm being offset from the forming surface; drawing a vacuum between the first and second diaphragms so as to hold the preform captive between the diaphragms; displacing the second diaphragm towards the former so as to bring the second diaphragm into partial contact with the former; drawing a vacuum between the second diaphragm and the former so as to bring at least a part of the second diaphragm adjoining the preform into conformity with the forming surface; and setting the preform in its configuration; wherein: the fibre preform comprises one or more substantially inextensible fibres extending linearly in a first direction; the forming surface comprises a concavity and prominences on either side of the concavity; and the step of bringing the second diaphragm into partial contact with the former comprises bringing the second diaphragm into contact with the prominences whilst the second diaphragm does not fully contact the concavity and with the substantially inextensible fibres extending from one of the prominences to the other.

A method for forming an article includes providing a sheet of material, optionally conditioning the sheet with a surface of a roller, forming the sheet to provide a web, and separating an article from the web to provide the article. An apparatus adapted to form the article from a sheet is provided.
Clamping apparatus of soft film and mounting fixture thereof
A clamping apparatus of a soft film and a mounting fixture thereof are described. The clamping apparatus includes a first bar, a second bar, a third bar, and at least one elastic element. The first bar and second bar are respectively configured to fix a first side portion and a second side portion of a soft film. The third bar is adjacent and connected to the second bar. The third bar and the first bar are respectively located on two opposite sides of the second bar. The third bar is configured to pull the soft film from the second side portion of the soft film through the second bar. The elastic element has a first end and a second end opposite to each other and respectively disposed on the second bar and the third bar. The elastic element is configured to provide the soft film with pull buffer.
Thermoforming assembly
A thermoforming assembly includes a lower mold part (20) and an upper mold part (34). The two mold parts are able to move in a substantially vertical direction between an open position and a closed position. Retaining members (28) are able to hold a sheet of softened thermoplastic (10) in a substantially horizontal mean plane Pm between the two mold parts. The retaining members include a plurality of rods (28) mounted mobile in the lower mold part (20). The rods (28) project out from the lower mold part (20) when the two mold parts (20, 34) are in the open position, to hold the sheet of softened thermoplastic (10) in the substantially horizontal mean plane Pm and accompany it as the mold closes.
Molding apparatus and molding method
A molding apparatus that adsorbs thermoplastic resin extruded in a sheet form from an extruding machine, onto a cavity of a mold, and shapes the thermoplastic resin into a shape according to the cavity is provided. The molding apparatus may include a frame that is positioned on a periphery of the mold and is movable relative to the mold, wherein a suction part for suctioning the thermoplastic resin is provided in a contact surface of the frame to contact the thermoplastic resin, and the suction part is provided in a linear shape along with a longitudinal direction of the frame positioned on the periphery of the mold.

The invention relates to thermoforming plant and their transport chains. Various aspects of the chain and chain rails are proposed. Overall the chain operates such that less wear occurs; it can also be cooled symmetrically and the film can be better heated up to the edges.
Thermoforming apparatus with the use of a plastic sheet cassette
A plastic sheet cassette includes a first frame member pivotably coupled to a second frame member, and a plastic sheet is fixedly supported by male and female parts provided on the first and second frame members. A thermoforming apparatus includes a cabinet, a heating source, a vacuum source, a platform, and a fixing frame that supports the cassette so as to be removable, and is vertically movable between the heating source and the vacuum source in the cabinet. The fixing frame can be stopped or released at any desired level in the cabinet and supports the cassette so that the sheet is heated at the upper level by the heating source and is brought into close contact with a prototype at the lower level by the vacuum source for making a mold having the same shape as the prototype.
MOLD FOR PRODUCING THREE-DIMENSIONAL DECORATIVE ARTICLES AND METHOD OF USE
Three-dimensional decorative articles are produced from blanks of heat-shrinkable plastic sheet material, using a mold base having an outer surface with a recess over which a blank is placed, and a convex mold insert that moves into the recess by gravity as the blank softens and cooperates with the interior wall of the recess to shape the sheet material into a three-dimensional decorative article. A guide peg extends outward from the bottom of the recess past the outer surface of the mold base and extends through a hole formed in the blank, and through a guide hole in the mold insert to support the mold insert before heating and to guide the mold insert as it moves into the recess of the mold base.
Panel assembly with molded foam backing
A seat trim cover having a 3-dimensional shape for an automotive vehicle seat is formed by pre-cutting a laminate blank into a predefined shape having a predefined selvage extending around an outer periphery of the laminate blank, vacuum forming the laminate blank in a 3-dimensional mold to form a 3-dimensional laminate blank, and forming a molded foam backing on the 3-dimensional shaped laminate blank to form the seat trim cover. The molded foam backing has an outer perimeter that is spaced apart from the predefined selvage such that the predefined selvage is free of foam.
THERMOFORMING PROCESS FOR PATTERNED FABRIC SUBSTRATE
Disclosed herein is a composite of a thermoformable fabric and an elastomer which together have been subjected to thermoformable moulding to provide a 3-dimensionally thermoformed fabric article in the form of a textile or in the form of the whole or part of a garment. The article presents an appearance that is substantially free of permanent wrinkles. Also disclosed herein is a process to make said article.
