Land roller with replaceable chopping blades

A land roller implement for chopping vegetation on the ground has one or more rollers including a drum body with mounting flanges protruding radially from the drum body onto which chopping blades can be fastened. The mounting flanges are fixed to the drum body with front weld beads that are spaced apart along the leading face of the mounting flanges. The blades are notched along the inner end to define recessed portions aligned with and receiving the front weld beads therein such that protruding portions at the inner end of the blades between the recessed portions are able to abut against the peripheral surface of the drum body without interference by the front weld beads. The bolts fastening the blades to the mounting flanges are thus isolated from shear forces by the abutting protruding portions while the mounting flanges remain secured against folding backward due to the presence of the front weld beads within the recessed portions.

A system for controlling the operation of an agricultural harvester includes a residue chopper configured to process crop residue removed from harvested crop material. Additionally, the system includes an actuator configured to control the operation of the residue chopper. Moreover, the system includes a terrain sensor configured to generate data indicative of a topographical parameter of the field. Additionally, the system includes a computing system communicatively coupled to the terrain sensor. The computing system is configured to determine the topographical parameter of the field based on the terrain sensor data and control the operation of the actuator to control the operation of the residue chopper based on the determined topographical parameter of the field.

A haulm cutting apparatus includes lateral and vertical guiding means or surfaces and a first, rotatable shear rotatable around an axis of rotation extending in a direction with a vertical component. The apparatus further includes a counter shear for cooperation with the first, rotatable shear, and the first, rotatable shear and the counter shear are positioned in a side-by-side relationship relative to a direction of travel during operation.

Seedbed preparation method and mechanism

A seedbed preparation and planting machine includes a cutting assembly including powered forward cutting blades for chopping crop residue. A cutting disc assembly follows the cutting assembly effective for forming a seedbed trench at a seed planting depth. A seed assembly follows the cutting disc assembly including a seed hopper and a seed tube located to drop seed into the seedbed trench. A packer assembly tamps down seed in the seedbed trench for covering seed therein.

Stubble stomper with self-resetting breakaway feature

A stubble stomper is disclosed that attaches to a crop harvesting header on an agricultural machine. The stubble stomper includes a mounting bracket that attaches to the header frame of the crop harvesting header, a hinge assembly that is rotatably attached to the stomper mounting bracket and is rotatable between a default position and a breakaway position, and a stomper shoe that is pivotally attached to the hinge assembly. The stubble stomper has a self-resetting feature from the breakaway position that allows the stubble stomper to re-engage to its default position as the agricultural machine moves in a forward direction of travel.
