3D-printed nanocomposites with metal diboride nanosheets

A polymerizable composition for 3D printing includes a photocurable polymer resin and metal diboride nanosheets. The resulting polymer nanocomposite includes a polymer matrix and metal diboride nanosheets dispersed throughout the polymer matrix. A method of synthesizing a nanomaterial-containing resin for 3D printing includes preparing a dispersion of metal diboride nanosheets in a solvent, and combining the dispersion with a liquid polymer resin to yield the nanomaterial-containing resin. A method of fabricating a nanocomposite structure from the nanomaterial-containing resin includes providing the nanomaterial-containing resin to a three-dimensional printer, forming a three-dimensional structure with the three-dimensional printer, and processing the three-dimensional structure to yield the nanocomposite structure.

To provide a method for manufacturing a three-dimensional shaped object in which a three-dimensional shaped object is manufactured by discharging a shaping material from a discharge unit toward a stage to stack a layer, the method for manufacturing a three-dimensional shaped object includes: a first step of generating path data having a plurality of partial paths through which the discharge unit moves while discharging the shaping material; a second step of determining a line width of the shaping material in each of the partial paths and generating line width information for implementing the line width; a third step of generating shaping data including the path data and the line width information; and a fourth step of shaping the three-dimensional shaped object according to the shaping data. In the second step, the line width in a target path that is one of the partial paths is determined in accordance with a distance between a first wall and a second wall separated by the target path. The first wall and the second wall are side edges of the shaping material discharged in the partial path generated before the target path or a contour line of the three-dimensional shaped object.

3-D printer apparatus

A 3-D printer apparatus (three-dimensional printer apparatus) includes a bottom structure of a tank. The tank defines a printing area located above and spaced apart from the bottom structure. The bottom structure includes oxygen releasing electrodes. A resin curing device is configured to selectively provide light to the printing area. The electronic controller controls operation of the resin curing device and the oxygen releasing electrodes. The electronic controller selectively operates areas of the oxygen releasing electrodes thereby releasing oxygen to predetermined locations below the printing area in order to temporarily prevent the polymerization of a polymerizable resin within predetermined locations of the printing area during the printing process.
