NUMERICAL CONTROL DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING APPARATUS
An NC device as a numerical control device controls an additive manufacturing apparatus for producing an object by layering, on a workpiece, a material melted by being irradiated with a beam. The NC device includes: a feature quantity extracting unit that extracts, from image data, a feature quantity for determining a welding state that is a state where a molten material is added to the workpiece; and a process map creating unit that creates a process map in which a shape of the object and a layering condition are associated with each other. The layering condition is selected from among a plurality of layering conditions on the basis of a result of determination of the welding state, and includes at least one of beam intensity and a supply amount of a material.

COMPUTATIONALLY OPTIMIZED AND MANUFACTURED ACOUSTIC METAMATERIALS
A system for fabricating an acoustic metamaterial is provided. In an embodiment, a system for fabricating an acoustic metamaterial includes determining at least one tuned physical property for each of a plurality of micro-resonators according to a desired acoustic property of the acoustic metamaterial. For a particular physical property, a value of the tuned physical property for at least one of the plurality of micro-resonators is different from a value of the tuned physical property for at least one other of the plurality of micro-resonators. The system also includes an additively manufacturing device configured to form the acoustic metamaterial such that the acoustic metamaterial comprises a first structure and the plurality of micro-resonators embedded within the first structure. Forming the acoustic metamaterial is performed such that an actual physical property of each of the plurality of micro-resonators is equal to a corresponding tuned physical property for each of the plurality of micro-resonators.

NON-BRAIDED BIODEGRABLE FLOW DIVERTING DEVICE FOR ENDOVASCULAR TREATMENT OF ANEURYSM AND ASSOCIATED FABRICATION METHOD
A biodegradable flow diverting device (BFDD) that will regulate blood flow into an aneurysmal sac, act as a scaffold for endothelization at the neck of an aneurysm, and degrade after successful dissolution of aneurysm and remodeling of blood vessel. This BFDD and associated fabrication method have the following features: (1) This is a non-braided FDD. The pore shapes, sizes, architectures (especially at the inlet and outlet of the pores), pore densities and porosities can be controlled for the optimum performance depending on the blood vessel and aneurysmal morphologies from patient MRI images, (2) BFDD is developed on a rotary arm with programmable variable speed and diameter in conjunction with a micromotion stage (3) Fabrication system can take any material including blended/composite biomaterials by adjusting temperature of the electro-melt extruder/needle and (4) Fabrication system is compatible with CAM (computer aided manufacturing) software and able to operate based on the adapted G-code.

Conformal manufacture method for 3D printing with high-viscosity material
The present disclosure discloses a conformal manufacture method for 3D printing with high-viscosity material. The method comprises the steps: using 3D design software to design a 3D model of a component and a conformal contactless support; importing the 3D model data of the component and the conformal contactless support into slice software; importing multiple slice data of the component and the conformal contactless support into a 3D printing device, and sequentially scanning a high-viscosity material by laser till completing the printing; and removing the support and the uncured materials to finally obtain the component. The support and the component to be manufactured are easy to be separated, and no trace is left on the surface of the component. The present disclosure provides a conformal contactless support method for manufacturing a component having a complex bottom surface structure by using a 3D printing technology, and has a wide application prospect in the field of 3D manufacture.

Fused filament fabrication of shape memory alloys
A method may include fused filament fabricating a fused filament fabricated component by delivering a softened filament to selected locations at or adjacent to a build surface. The softened filament may include a sacrificial binder and a powder including a shape memory alloy (SMA). The method also may include removing substantially all the sacrificial binder from the fused filament fabricated component to leave an unsintered component; and sintering the unsintered component to join particles of the SMA and form an SMA component.
