Method for joining metal member and thermosetting resin member, and metal member, thermosetting resin member, and thermoplastic resin sheet for use therein
Disclosed is a method for joining a metal member and a thermosetting resin member together with a thermoplastic resin interposed therebetween.
System and apparatus for fiber reinforced thermoplastics joiner
A system for, and method making and repairing a fiber-reinforced component including bonding a first thermoplastic matrix possessing reinforcing fibers distributed therein to a second composite member possessing a thermoplastic matrix with reinforcing fibers distributed therein; and metals and more particularly a method and apparatuses for joining fiber reinforced thermoplastics utilizing a combination of heat, force and rotational force.
IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICE WITH METAL AND POLYMER HOUSING
In some examples, manufacturing techniques for implantable medical devices are described. An example method may including positioning a metal housing component adjacent to a polymer housing component so that there is an interface between the metal housing component and the polymer housing component; and forming a seal at the interface between the metal housing component and the polymer housing component to join the metal housing component and the polymer housing component, wherein the joined metal housing component and the polymer housing component form at least a portion of housing for the implantable medical device, wherein the housing of the implantable medical device contains electronic circuitry.
METHOD FOR JOINING A METAL COMPONENT AND A POLYMER COMPONENT, AND STRUCTURE COMPRISING SAID COMPONENTS
The invention concerns a method for joining a metal component and a polymer component, and a structure comprising said components. In the method, an extrusion die plate with a through hole is placed between the metal component and the polymer component. A probe is rotated and plunged across the thickness of the metal component and eventually through said through hole of the extrusion die plate, thereby extruding a part of the metal component through said through hole of the extrusion die plate into the polymer component. The probe has a rotation axis having an offset to the centre of the through hole during the rotating and plunging action.
Welding head and method for use with polymeric components
A fusion bonding process for polymeric components and welding heads for use in the process are described. Methods and devices can be utilized to weld polymer-based structural components to one another by use of an enhanced friction stir welding technology that combines heating, pressure, and polymer agitation to form a highly secure joint between polymeric structural components and a short fiber reinforced thermoplastic connection element.
Wind turbine blade with anchoring sites
The invention relates to a wind turbine blade having integrated thermoplastic anchoring sites for attachment of surface mounted devices, a method for producing such blade and a wind turbine equipped with such blade.
FRICTION WELDING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF OPERATING THE SAME
A friction welding apparatus is provided, which includes a tool, a rotary driver, a linear driver, and a control device. The control device controls the linear driver and the rotary driver so that the tool is rotated while a tip-end part thereof is pressed against a to-be-joined part of a to-be-joined object to increase a temperature of the to-be-joined part at or above an A1 transformation point, the tip-end part of the tool reaches a given first position so that a softened second member sticks into a softened first member, and the tool is drawn out from the to-be-joined part while the tool is rotated.
Resin composition, cured product thereof, and friction stir welding method
A friction stir welding method using a resin composition including: a monomer (A) having an ethylenically unsaturated bond; a thermosetting resin (B); a radical polymerization initiator (C); and a fiber reinforcing material (D), wherein the thermosetting resin (B) is an unsaturated polyester resin or a vinyl ester resin.
Fluid system and method of manufacture via friction welding
A method of friction welding a workpiece to a fluid element includes the step of placing a workpiece weld surface in contact with a fluid element weld surface. The workpiece weld surface is driven in a predetermined pattern along the fluid element weld surface. Pressure is applied between the workpiece weld surface and the fluid element weld surface to produce friction and heat sufficient to raise the temperature of the weld surfaces to welding temperature. A weld bond is formed by stopping the driving of the workpiece weld surface while applying the pressure between the weld surfaces. Before and/or after the weld bond is formed, at least a portion of the workpiece is machined to form at least a portion of a fluid fitting configured to receive and sealingly attach to a pipe in a non-leaking manner to convey a flow of fluid therethrough.
HIGH-SPEED POLYMER-TO-METAL DIRECT JOINING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A method of directly joining a polymer to a metal along a joint interface through the formation of CO-M chemical bonds, where M represents an element in the metal to be joined. The method includes heating the metal to a predetermined temperature above a glass transition temperature of the polymer and less than a flash ignition temperature of the polymer and less than a metal melting temperature of the metal; physically contacting at least one of the metal and the polymer; and applying compression pressure to the joint interface of the metal and the polymer when the metal is above the glass transition temperature of the polymer and less than the flash ignition temperature of the polymer and less than the metal melting temperature of the metal to generate intimate atomic contact between the metal and the polymer to create CO-M chemical bonds between the metal and the polymer.
