IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO WIND TURBINE BLADE MANUFACTURE
A method of making a wind turbine blade is described. The method involves providing a blade shell having an inner surface defining a mounting region and positioning a web in the mounting region. One or more web restraining devices are used to secure the position of the web in the mounting region. Each restraining device has a first portion attached to the web and a second portion attached to the inner surface of the blade shell. The restraining devices are configured to prevent movement of the web in a first plane substantially parallel to the mounting region and to permit movement of the web in a second plane substantially perpendicular to the mounting region. The method further comprises moving the web in the second plane away from the mounting region and performing one or more preparatory operations on the mounting region with the web moved away from the mounting region. The web is then repositioned in the mounting region by moving the web in the second plane back towards the mounting region.
Positioning profiles for pultrusions in wind blade spar caps
Provided herein is a spar cap having a profile for guiding and receiving a shear web for wind turbine blade. Particularly, the present disclosure provides a pultruded spar cap having a bond gap feature to maintain a uniform space for distribution of bonding paste between the spar cap and shear web. Also, the spar cap is formed with locating features which guide and receive placement of the shear web.
FLYAWAY STRINGER END CAPS
Systems and methods are provided for utilizing stringer end caps. One embodiment is a method of forming a stringer. The method includes laying up a stringer preform comprising fiber-reinforced material, placing the stringer preform onto a skin panel preform, bonding an end cap to the stringer preform and the skin panel preform, and co-curing the stringer preform and the skin panel preform while the end cap is bonded to the stringer preform and the skin panel preform, resulting in a composite part that includes the end cap.
FLYAWAY STRINGER END CAPS
Systems and methods are provided for fabricating composite parts. One embodiment is a method for fabricating a composite part. The method includes forming a skin panel preform comprising fiber reinforced material, disposing rigid end caps at the skin panel preform at end locations of stringer preforms that will be placed at the skin panel, locating the stringer preforms at the skin panel preform via the rigid end caps, and anchoring the stringer preforms to the skin panel preform.
TIRE CARCASS PLY JOINING APPARATUS AND METHOD
A method forms a butt joint between ends of first and second plies and splices the first and second plies together. The method includes the steps of: positioning a first splice edge of a first ply at a first location; positioning a second splice edge of a second ply at a second location, the second splice edge being left bare; wrapping a gum strip around the first splice edge such that the first gum strip forms a U-shaped structure in section that allows the first gum strip to extend from a first planar side of the first ply over the first splice edge to a second opposite planar side of the first ply; not wrapping a gum strip around the second splice edge; placing the first splice edge in abutting relationship to the second splice edge; and stitching the first splice edge to the second splice edge such that stitches each extend from the first planar side of the first ply, through the gum strip, to the first planar side of the second ply.
Cured in place liner termination
A rehabilitated pipe system and a method for rehabilitating a pipe system. A lines a host pipe and a coupling member configured for being operatively coupled to a mechanical coupler is positioned adjacent the host pipe so that a connecting section of the liner extends into the coupling member. The connecting section of the liner is adhesively bonded to the coupling member, and the mechanical coupler is installed to fluidly couple the liner to another fluid conducting structure. The connecting section of the liner can be formed in a portion of the host pipe that is removed after lining. The coupling member can be flanged or include a lateral coupling tube. The mechanical coupler can, e.g., be a ductile iron coupler or a bolt.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING PROCESSED CORK CHIP AND METHOD FOR CONSTRUCTING FLOOR USING SAME
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing processed cork chips, and a floor construction method using the same. The processed cork chips are manufactured by the method, including: crushing and drying cork chips; adding polyurea to the dried cork chips to prepare a mixture; heating the mixture to cure the same; and cooling the cured mixture. Further, the floor construction method includes: laying the processed cork chips on the surface of a floor formed of concrete, a water-permeable base layer or crushed stone with a solidified top surface; and flattening the processed cork chips and pressing the same by means of a roller at a fixed temperature.
CHEMICALLY JOINED SPRINKLER ASSEMBLY AND FITTING WITH INTERNAL RESERVOIR
A sprinkler assembly includes a sprinkler body and a tubular connection fitting. The tubular connection fitting includes a first end for connection to a fluid supply pipe and a second end with the sprinkler body inserted therein, the tubular member including an outer surface and an inner surface defining an internal conduit extending along a longitudinal axis, the inner surface of the tubular member includes a first stop surface spaced from the first end to define an insertion depth for the fluid supply pipe and a second stop surface to limit insertion of the sprinkler body into the second end. The first stop surface defines an annular channel for housing an end of the fluid supply pipe.
Materials and method for joining fiber reinforced pipeline
A method of joining fiberglass-reinforced composite pipes includes joining an inner tube of each pipe by fusion to form a fused bond, joining fiber reinforced polymer tubes of each pipe by depositing a silica glass particle epoxy directly on the fused bond and on bonded edges of the fiber reinforced polymer tubes as a composition to cover tube edges and the fused inner tube bond, and curing the composition.
Adhesive bonding and sealing of seams and joints
The adhesive bonding and sealing by application of adhesive material and sealing material at corresponding seams and joints, wherein the adhesive material is arranged to rest directly, at least in part, on the sealing material.
