The invention relates to a method for connecting two fibre-reinforced plastic components, comprising the following steps: producing a first fibre-reinforced plastic component, wherein a fabric made of fibrous matting is provided, which is impregnated with a resin-curing agent mixture, which is then subsequently cured, wherein the part of the surface of the first fibre-reinforced plastic component, which is to be later adhered to the second fibre-reinforced plastic component (hereinafter also referred to as joining surface), is masked with an adhesive strip before the impregnation of the fibrous matting with the resin-curing agent mixture; producing a second fibre-reinforced plastic component using the above steps, wherein the part of the surface of the second fibre-reinforced plastic component, which is to be later adhered to the first fibre-reinforced plastic component, is also masked with an adhesive strip before the impregnation of the fibrous matting with the resin-curing agent mixture; removing the adhesive strips from the two finished fibre-reinforced plastic components; bringing the two joining surfaces in contact; introducing a resin-curing agent mixture between the two joining surfaces; curing the resin-curing agent mixture, wherein the adhesive strip has a carrier film, on one side of which an adhesive mass, in particular self-adhesive mass is applied, and wherein the carrier film consists of fluoropolymers, polyethylene polymers, undrawn polypropylenes or of metal, and the adhesive mass is an acrylate or silicon adhesive mass.

Wind turbine blade manufacturing method or apparatus

A positioning jig (25) and a method for manufacturing a wind turbine blade comprising moulding a first and a second blade shell portion in respective first and second mould tools; positioning a shear web (15) in a spanwise direction within a first shell portion (20) in a said first mould tool (7); anchoring said shear web in position in said first shell portion; and closing said second shell portion (21) over said first shell portion to thereby generate a wind turbine blade shell defining a chordwise extent between a in trailing edge and a leading edge thereof, and a spanwise extent between a root region and a tip thereof and wherein said shear web, bordered by a first (24) and a second longitudinal edge, extends in a thickness direction of said blade; said method further comprising: providing a positioning jig; and securing said positioning jig to said shear web, prior to its introduction into said first shell portion and guiding said shear web into its predetermined standing position in said first shell portion, with its first longitudinal edge adjacent said first shell portion, by engaging a reference surface (33) of said positioning jig with a locating surface (12) at said first mould tool thereby to bring said positioning jig into its guide position with said shear web in its predetermined standing position; and removing said positioning jig from said first mould tool prior to closing said second shell portion over said first shell portion. A shear web, especially an upper edge thereof, may be additionally secured to the blade shell using ligaments (30) prior to removal of the positioning jig.

Method of joining of polymeric composites

A method of joining first and second layers of polymeric composite material includes disposing a portion of a molded insert having a bottom end into a top surface of a first layer of material and then applying a layer of adhesive between the top surface of the first layer and a bottom surface of a second layer of material to create a bond-line thickness. Next, a top surface of the second layer is pierced with a headless end of a fastener and interlocked into the molded insert. A layer of protective coating is then applied to the top surface of the second layer of material to cover the interlocked fastener.

A method and apparatus for fabricating a composite structure. The method comprises defining a shape for the composite structure with a first face sheet. The method places core sections on the shape defined by the first face sheet. The method places an adhesive in a group of joint cavities. The method places a second face sheet on the core sections placed on the first face sheet, wherein the first face sheet, the core sections, and the second face sheet, define a structural assembly in which the group of joint cavities are present. The method cures the structural assembly with the adhesive in the group of joint cavities to fabricate the composite structure in which the adhesive fills the group of joint cavities when the adhesive is cured.

Stabilizer bushing

A stabilizer bushing installed on a stabilizer bar is made of two divided parts of rubber or the like to prevent or decrease generation of a gap in a bonding surface. The stabilizer bushing installed on an outer periphery of the stabilizer bar by adhesion includes divided rubber bushings of an upper rubber bushing and a lower rubber bushing. Before adhesion, both end portions of the upper and lower rubber bushings, respectively, in a circumferential direction are tapered so that an overlapping amount between the upper and lower rubber bushings increases toward the outer periphery side of the bushings. After adhesion, a bonding surface is bonded by pressure.

A fiber-reinforced resin component comprises a first part having a plurality of first fiber layers impregnated in a matrix resin and a second part having a plurality of second fiber layers impregnated in the matrix resin. The second part is bonded to the first part via an adhesive layer. The fiber-reinforced resin component further comprises a plurality of connecting fibers that connect the first part and the second part. One end portion of the connecting fibers is sandwiched between the first fiber layers, and the other end portion of the connecting fibers is sandwiched between the second fiber layers.

Coated membrane composite

A membrane composite comprising an olefinic membrane core having first and second planar surfaces, a first silicone coating layer disposed on the first planar surface, and a second silicone coating layer disposed on the second planar surface.

ULTRASONIC WELD-BONDING OF THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITIES

Methods for ultrasonic welding of thermoplastic polymer workpieces and assemblies made therefrom are provided. The method may comprise disposing a first region of a first thermoplastic polymer workpiece and a second region of a second thermoplastic polymer workpiece between an ultrasonic horn and an anvil of an ultrasonic welding device. The first workpiece has a preformed deformation and at least one of the first and/or second workpieces has an adhesive precursor applied thereto. The ultrasonic horn or anvil seats within the preformed deformation. Ultrasonic energy is applied from the ultrasonic horn to create a weld nugget between the first and second workpieces. The assembly thus formed has a green strength sufficient to be further processed immediately. The methods provide a robust weld joint with controlled adhesive bondline thickness.

A method and an apparatus for producing a reinforcement mesh. Here, a reinforcement fiber strand is firstly saturated with a resin (H) and cured to form a cured, fiber-reinforced strand material. The strand material present as an endless material is then cut lengthwise into bars, which are then used as longitudinal bars or transverse bars for forming the reinforcement mesh. A connecting material is used at each intersection point between a longitudinal bar and a transverse bar and is dispensed in liquid form at the intersection point or is liquefied and then cured at the intersection point. A fixed connection is thus created between the longitudinal bars and the transverse bars at the intersection points. Between the intersection points, the longitudinal bars and the transverse bars have portions that are free of connecting material.
