Rivet tape mending process and system
A method for repairing rivet tape includes steps of cutting portions of the rivet tape on each side of a break to define at least three aligned coplanar rivet tape edges, abutting the at least three aligned coplanar rivet tape edges to define a seam, and joining the at least three aligned coplanar rivet tape edges to one another. The seam may define a Z shape. One or more rivets may be removed to expose rivet apertures on each side of the break before the steps of cutting, abutting, and joining. The step of joining is accomplished by at least one adhesive strip disposed on a surface of the rivet tape and dimensioned to overlie the at least one or more exposed rivet apertures. Adhesive strips may be disposed on each opposed surface of the rivet tape length. In other aspects, workstations comprise devices for practicing the described methods.
Seam forming system and method
A system and method for forming a seam between at least first and possibly second pieces of material used to form an inflatable product utilizes at least a first and potentially a second seam forming members that are attached to an inside wall of a piece of product material that comprises the inflatable product proximate each end. The inflatable product is comprised of one or more pieces of product material and one or more seam forming members located at any location where a seam is necessary. A first portion of the seam forming member attaches to a first edge of a first piece of product material and a second portion of the seam forming member attaches proximate a second edge of the first piece of product material. The seal forming can be accomplished by radio frequency, ultrasonic, heat or other types of welding, and adhesive or chemical based bonding.
Applicators for applying masking material to surfaces
Applicators for applying a masking material to a target surface, the applicators include a body, an applicator system attached to the body and configured to apply the masking material to the target surface with a substantially straight edge as the body is translated in an application direction, a dispenser system attached to the body, the dispenser system being configured to support a supply of the masking material and to dispense the masking material to the applicator system, and a guide member attached to the body proximate the applicator system in a trailing position and configured to press the masking material to the target surface after the applicator system applies the masking material to the target surface.
METHODS OF SEALING OF MULTILAYER, MONOLITHIC LAYER AND COMPOSITES OF ETFE AND ITS ALTERNATIVES FOR ROOFING APPLICATIONS
A heat and/or UV/LED activated single or double-sided tape is configured to seal multiple sheets of single or multilayer composite film with the film including an outer fluoropolymer layer. A repair kit includes a single-sided and/or double-sided heat and UV/LED activated adhesive tape, portable surface treater, and portable heat/UV/LED generating device. The single-sided and/or double-sided heat and UV/LED activated adhesive tape is useful in the manufacturing of architectural applications and in repair of architectural applications.
Synthetic turf seam integration template system and methods of use
A synthetic turf seam integration template system and method is provided that includes a template having a planar base including a longitudinal non-cutting edge and an opposing longitudinal cutting edge. The longitudinal cutting edge is not straight but has a predetermined curvature. In one aspect, a through-cut viewing slot extends longitudinally offset a predetermined distance from said non-cutting edge. Variations of the predetermined curvature patterns are disclosed. An optional connector allows connection of two templates to create a longer template for usage on longer seams. Also disclosed are methods of using the seam integration tool in creating an undetectable seam in synthetic turf.
WATER SPORT ARTICLE JOINT AND A METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A WATER SPORT ARTICLE JOINT
A water sport article is provided. The water sport article includes a joint formed between a first panel having a greater thickness than a second panel. The joint includes an overlapping interface between the first and second panels where one or more of adhesive bonding, blind stitching, and taping is used to attach the first and second panels at the overlapping interface.
STORAGE BAG
A method of making a storage bag comprising the following steps performed in any order: (a) forming a composite tube having an inner surface comprising a higher melting polymer, an outer surface comprising a lower melting polymer, two ends, and a diameter; (b) flattening the tube in a direction perpendicular to the diameter; (c) forming a joint at one of the ends at a temperature between respective melting points of the higher melting polymer and the lower melting polymer; (d) providing a composite sheet having a first side comprising a higher melting polymer and a second side comprising a lower melting polymer; and (e) disposing the composite sheet over the joint such that the first side comprising a lower melting polymer engages the joint and forming a lap seam over the joint at a temperature between respective melting points of the higher melting polymer and the lower melting polymer, and a storage bag made by such method.
Field joint arrangement for a pipeline and protecting method thereof
A method protects a field joint of a pipeline, where chamfered edges of thermally-insulating parent coatings on conjoined pipe lengths are in mutual opposition about a longitudinally-extending gap. The method includes manufacturing an hourglass-shaped inner layer around the pipe lengths, which layer may be moulded. The inner layer extends longitudinally along the gap between the chamfered edges and at least partially overlies the chamfered edges. A thermally-insulating solid insert is assembled from two or more parts to lie in the gap surrounding the inner layer, and pressure is applied radially inwardly from the insert to the inner layer. An outer layer of molten material is manufactured around the insert to form a watertight barrier and to form one or more melted interfaces with the inner layer. Corresponding field joint arrangements are also disclosed.
VAPOR RETARDER FOR INSULATED PIPE
A vapor barrier and method for applying same around an insulated pipe structure is disclosed. The vapor barrier a vapor retarder layer, an adhesive layer disposed on one side of the vapor retarder layer, and a release layer covering the adhesive layer. The vapor barrier has a two-dimensional geometric profile which corresponds to a three-dimensional structure of a specific pipe joint. Applying the vapor barrier comprises removing first and second portions of the release layer to expose respective portions of the adhesive layer, adhering the respective portions of release layer to corresponding areas of the pipe joint, forming an overlap seal in which a portion of the vapor barrier is adhered to itself via a portion of the adhesive layer, and forming an edge seal in which a portion of the prefabricated vapor barrier is adhered to a portion of adjacent insulation structure via a portion of the adhesive layer.
Insulating Inserts for Field Joints of Coated Rigid Pipelines
An insulating insert is positioned around a field joint of a pipeline to insulate the field joint. The insert comprises a longitudinal series of annular or part-annular filler segments of insulating material, curved about a longitudinal axis, that are each joined to one or more adjacent segments of the series by at least one link. The links may be webs, rods or articulated links. The links are flexible relative to the segments to facilitate bending of the insert along its length by enabling relative angular displacement between adjacent segments of the series.
