A heat and/or UV/LED activated single or double-sided tape is configured to seal multiple sheets of single or multilayer composite film with the film including an outer fluoropolymer layer. A repair kit includes a single-sided and/or double-sided heat and UV/LED activated adhesive tape, portable surface treater, and portable heat/UV/LED generating device. The single-sided and/or double-sided heat and UV/LED activated adhesive tape is useful in the manufacturing of architectural applications and in repair of architectural applications.
Joining thermoplastic workpieces with induction heating
A method of joining workpieces includes the steps of bringing a first workpiece and a second workpiece together, induction heating a susceptor material, and pressing the workpieces together. Each workpiece may include a thermoplastic material, and the workpieces are brought together at a joint interface so that a protrusion of the first workpiece is aligned with a receptacle of the second workpiece. The susceptor material is in contact with the thermoplastic material of the first workpiece during heating such that the thermoplastic material of the first workpiece softens. The step of pressing is performed while the thermoplastic material of the first workpiece is softened, thereby reshaping the first workpiece where the susceptor material is in contact with the thermoplastic material of the first workpiece. The protrusion is deformed to form an interlock with the receptacle at the joint interface.
Vacuum fixture
Disclosed is a vacuum fixture. The vacuum fixture may include a base plate assembly, a middle frame assembly, and a top plate assembly. The base plate assembly may have a first hinged edge. The middle frame assembly may be connected to the base plate proximate the first hinged edge and may define a void. The top plate assembly may have a second hinged edge connected to the first hinged edge, such that when the top plate assembly is in a closed position the middle frame assembly is located in between and contacts a first surface of the base plate assembly and a first surface of the top plate assembly, thereby forming a cavity in between the base plate assembly and the top plate assembly.
Edge trim for pieces of furniture
An edge trim for pieces of furniture, including a meltable layer, is described. The molecular structure of the meltable layer contains both polar and non-polar parts. By way of a non-limiting example, an edge trim for pieces of furniture having an exposed edge of wooden or wood substitute material is described, comprising a molten layer and a structural layer, wherein the structural layer and the molten layer are connected in an adhesive bond, wherein the molten layer is made of a material that is chemically modified such that polar and non-polar components are found in a single molecular structure, wherein the molten layer contains energy absorbing additives, wherein the energy absorbing additives of the molten layer are selected from the group consisting of metal oxides, metal phosphates, metal salts of organic anions and combinations thereof.
Methods for forming solar panels
A method for forming a solar panel can include attaching one or more tacking pads to one or both of a first surface of a first solar panel subassembly and a second surface of a second solar panel subassembly. The method further includes dispensing an adhesive onto at least one of the first and second surfaces. The first and second surfaces are placed in contact with the one or more tacking pads, thereby tacking the first and second solar panel subassemblies together, during which the first and second surfaces contact the adhesive, thereby decreasing a thickness and increasing a surface area of the adhesive. Subsequently, the adhesive is cured. The tacking pad(s) maintain fixed alignment of the solar panel subassemblies during curing of the adhesive, and establish a bond line of the adhesive.
METAL-CARBON FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC COMPOSITE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING METAL-CARBON FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC COMPOSITE
A metal-carbon fiber reinforced plastic composite comprising a metal member of a ferrous material or ferrous alloy, a resin layer provided on at least one surface of the metal member and including a thermoplastic resin, and carbon fiber reinforced plastic provided on a surface of the resin layer and including a carbon fiber material and a matrix resin having thermoplasticity, a glass transition point Tg1 or melting point Tm1 of the resin layer being higher than a glass transition point Tg2 or melting point Tm2 of the carbon fiber reinforced plastic, in which metal-carbon fiber reinforced plastic composite, an AC impedance at a frequency 1 Hz when immersing the metal-carbon fiber reinforced plastic composite in an aqueous solution containing sodium chloride in 5 mass % is 110.sup.7 or more.
Assembly for protecting acoustic device
An assembly (1) for protecting an acoustic device comprises an expanded polytetrafluorethylene (ePTFE) membrane (3) and first and second polymeric substrates (2, 4) disposed on opposing sides (5, 6) of the membrane (3). The first substrate (2) is transmissive for laser light of a predetermined wavelength, and the membrane (3) is joined to the first and second substrates (2, 4) by first and second laser weld joints (9, 10) on the first side (5) of the membrane (3) and the second side (6) of the membrane (3), respectively, that are created in a single laser transmission welding step through the first polymeric substrate (2) towards the second polymeric substrate (4). The first side (5) of the membrane (3) may be at least partially absorbent for the laser light and the second side (6) may be at least partially transmissive for the laser light. This may be achieved by a color gradient from black to white from the first side (5) to the second side (6).
Method for welding polyamide and poly(meth)acrylate plastics
The invention relates to a method for welding a polyamide plastic and a poly(meth)acrylateparticularly a polymethyl methacrylateplastic using a primer, said primer containing at least one copolymer synthesised from at least one styrene or styrene derivative and at least one maleic anhydride or maleic anhydride derivative. The invention also relates to correspondingly welded products.
CONNECTION METHOD FOR CHASSIS SEALING ELEMENTS
A method for connecting the joint of two ends of at least one chassis sealing element. In order to allow a secure and quick connection of the ends and allow an additional unhindered passage of air and moisture between hollow chambers within the chassis sealing element via the joint when using a profiled hollow chamber, the ends are first arranged at a distance to each other, and a shapeless bonding agent is applied to at least one end. The bonding agent is then heated, and the ends are brought into mutual contact, whereby the ends are bonded at the joint by way of the heated bonding agent.
