METHOD AND DEVICE FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF SPORTING GOODS AND SPORTING GOODS MANUFACTURED THEREBY

Described are methods for the manufacture of sporting goods, in particular a shoe, sporting goods manufactured by such methods, for example a shoe, as well as a device for performing such methods. The method for the manufacture of sporting goods, in particular a shoe, is provided, wherein the sporting goods has a first component with a first connection surface and a second component with a second connection surface. The method includes activating at least one portion of the first connection surface by providing heat energy without contact, and connecting the first component with the second component by joining the first connection surface and the second connection surface.

Method of repairing or reinforcing wind turbine blade, or attaching accessory part to wind turbine blade

A method of repairing or reinforcing, or attaching an accessory part to a wind turbine blade includes: determining a criterion to be satisfied by a repair member including a reinforcing fiber and a UV curable resin, the criterion being an adhesion strength of the repair member relative to a base member of the wind turbine blade; determining a work condition including: dimensions of the repair member, the number of the layers of the reinforcing fiber in the repair member, and/or a fiber extension direction of the reinforcing fiber, based on a damage condition of a repair target portion of the wind turbine blade; placing the reinforcing fiber and UV curable resin on the repair target portion based on the determined work condition; and obtaining the repair member by curing the UV curable resin so that the adhesion strength of the repair member relative to the base member satisfies the criterion.

Multilayer fluidic devices and methods for their fabrication

A fluidic device including an inorganic solid support attached to an organic solid support by a bonding layer, wherein the inorganic solid support has a rigid structure and wherein the bonding layer includes a material that absorbs radiation at a wavelength that is transmitted by the inorganic solid support or the organic solid support; and a channel formed by the inorganic solid support and the organic solid support, wherein the bonding layer that attaches the inorganic solid support to the organic solid support provides a seal against liquid flow. Methods for making fluidic devices, such as this, are also provided.

A method for bonding two elements, the method including receiving first and second elements, the first element being a composite material; applying a laser-based treatment to a surface of the first element to obtain a treated surface; patterning the treated surface to have plural trenches; applying an adhesive to one of the first and second elements; and joining the first element to the second element so that the adhesive is between the first and second elements.

Adhesive testing apparatus and method

A device and method are provided for testing the effectiveness of an adhesive composition to adhere a sheet of material to a substrate. A connector is attached to the sheet and the adhesive is used to adhere the sheet to the substrate and permitted to cure to a selected amount. After (or even before, if desired) the adhesive cures, a load is applied to the connector, having the effect of pulling the sheet away from the substrate. The duration of the pulling and the amount of the load can be varied. If too large a dome is formed under the location of the connector, the adhesive does not pass the test. Optionally, the adhesive formulation is adjusted to make it stronger to resist such doming.

LAMINATE, SHOE SOLE, AND SHOE

A laminate of the present invention includes a first member which contains a thermoplastic polymer and through which laser light is transmitted and a second member which contains a thermoplastic polymer and absorbs laser light, wherein the first member is directly bonded to the second member, and A represented by the formula 1: A=9D+Wa45 is more than zero. D represents a distance between a Hansen solubility parameter of the thermoplastic polymer of the first member and a Hansen solubility parameter of the thermoplastic polymer of the second member, and Wa represents work of adhesion calculated from each surface free energy of the first member and the second member. Such a first member and a second member are firmly bonded to each other without using a bonding sheet.

Provided is a laminate that includes a thin-film structure having a fine concave-convex structure at its surface, can be distributed on the market so that the thin-film structure is usable by a customer without staining or fracturing, and can be prevented from degradation even after storage. A laminate comprises a thin-film structure and holding films, wherein a first holding film is laminated on one surface of the thin-film structure and a second holding film is laminated on the other surface of the thin-film structure, the thin-film structure has fine concave-convex structures at both surfaces, and 0<P1, 0<P2, and P1P2, where P1 is a peel force at an interface between the first holding film and the thin-film structure and P2 is a peel force at an interface between the second holding film and the thin-film structure.

Plasticity induced bonding

Methods and apparatuses for bonding polymeric parts are disclosed. Specifically, in one embodiment, the polymeric parts are bonded by plastically deforming them against each other while they are below the glass transition temperatures.
