Method For Plasma Treating Substrates And For Bonding Plasma Treated Substrates
A method for plasma treating a surface of a first substrate is disclosed. The method may comprise generating a plasma flume using a plasma treatment device having a nozzle. The plasma flume may emanate through a flume aperture of the nozzle at an emanation angle of about 5 degrees or less. The emanation angle may be defined as an angle between a central axis of the nozzle and a central axis of the flume aperture. The method may further comprise plasma treating the surface of the first substrate with the plasma flume by scanning the plasma flume over the surface of the first substrate. The first substrate may be one of a consolidated thermoplastic material and a cured thermoset material.
Method for improving the heat sealability of packaging material and method for manufacturing heat-sealed container or package
A method for improving the heat sealability of a packaging material and a method for manufacturing a heat-sealed container or package are described. The material can be polymer-coated packaging paper or cardboard, or a polymeric packaging film. The material includes a polymer layer that contains polyester, particularly polylactide, the heat sealability of which is improved by ultraviolet radiation. Polylactide is useful as such or when blended, for example, with other biodegradable polyester. The containers and packages thus manufactured include disposable drinking cups and cardboard carton and box packages.

HIGH-SPEED POLYMER-TO-METAL DIRECT JOINING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A method of directly joining a polymer to a metal along a joint interface through the formation of CO-M chemical bonds, where M represents an element in the metal to be joined. The method includes heating the metal to a predetermined temperature above a glass transition temperature of the polymer and less than a flash ignition temperature of the polymer and less than a metal melting temperature of the metal; physically contacting at least one of the metal and the polymer; and applying compression pressure to the joint interface of the metal and the polymer when the metal is above the glass transition temperature of the polymer and less than the flash ignition temperature of the polymer and less than the metal melting temperature of the metal to generate intimate atomic contact between the metal and the polymer to create CO-M chemical bonds between the metal and the polymer.
Method for producing plate packs
Plate packs are produced from a sheet-like starting product (1), which is cut to form plates, which are stacked to form a plate pack. The plates within the plate stack are joined to one another by a bonding agent. The bonding agent used is a cyanoacrylate adhesive with a high temperature stability rating. It is applied to a wetting layer (14) for the adhesive. The wetting layer (14) is formulated to a pH in a region >7. The cyanoacrylate adhesive with a high temperature stability rating is able to spread on the wetting layer (14) such that effective wetting takes place, thus achieving quick and secure joining of the plates to one another.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PLASTIC COMPONENT, PLASTIC COMPONENT, AND MACHINING SYSTEM
The invention relates to a method for producing plastic components for a vehicle, wherein the plastic components are at least partially painted in a painting step and are subsequently connected to further components on the non-painted surfaces, wherein at least one region, which is used to connect to the further components, is freed of impurities by a removal method using laser light.
Multilayer fluidic devices and methods for their fabrication
A fluidic device including an inorganic solid support attached to an organic solid support by a bonding layer, wherein the inorganic solid support has a rigid structure and wherein the bonding layer includes a material that absorbs radiation at a wavelength that is transmitted by the inorganic solid support or the organic solid support; and a channel formed by the inorganic solid support and the organic solid support, wherein the bonding layer that attaches the inorganic solid support to the organic solid support provides a seal against liquid flow. Methods for making fluidic devices, such as this, are also provided.
