FILMS AMD BAGS WITH VISUALLY DISTINCT REGIONS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

One or more implementations of a multi-layer film include a first substantially un-pigmented layer non-continuously bonded to a second pigmented layer. The multi-layer film includes an unexpected appearance differing from the appearance of the pigmented layer. In one or more embodiments, the multi-layer film includes a metallic appearance despite the pigmented layer being devoid of metallic pigment. The multi-layer film also includes areas that are visually distinct from areas of the film with the unexpected appearance. The visually-distinct areas comprise areas in which the first substantially un-pigmented layer non-continuously bonded is in intimate contact with the second pigmented layer. The visually-distinct areas have the appearance of the pigmented layer. One or more implementations also include methods of making multi-layer films and bags with an unexpected appearance and visually-distinct areas.

Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) Stringer Termination Softening With Stacked CFRP Noodle

A stringer and corresponding method is provided having a runout design that softens the stringer. According to one aspect, the stringer includes a base flange, a web, and a noodle. The noodle includes a unidirectional fiber top portion and a stacked laminate bottom portion coupled to the top portion. The bottom portion includes a number of stacks, each stack including three plies having three corresponding fiber orientations within an acreage region of the stringer. In a transition region of the stringer, the stacked laminate bottom portion includes a number of stacks, each stack including the first and third plies of the acreage region. According to another aspect, the base flange is softened by dropping plies within the transition region. Yet another aspect includes trimming the web down to the noodle, while trimming through the noodle according to a trim radius to a height proximate the base flange.

Welding rod for performing a plastic weld on plastic panels, so as to fasten them to one another, and related methods. Use of welding rods, or structural and welding profiles, having at least one tongue below which is a boss extending longitudinally and forming a material reserve. Once the welding rod is placed along a desired weld line, under the effect of heating, the material reserve is softened and fuses with a panel portion situated opposite it, so as to produce a final plastic weld, and the tongue is folded down on said weld line, to conceal it.

Unitary Composite Structure

A unitary composite structure and methods of forming are presented. A method of laying up a unitary composite structure comprises laying up a plurality of dome plies on a rounded end of a mandrel using a plurality of rosettes; laying up a plurality of cylindrical plies on a cylindrical surface of the mandrel using a layup rosette independent of the plurality of rosettes; and forming a transition region comprising a joint between the plurality of dome plies and the plurality of cylindrical plies by varying lengths of the plurality of dome plies and lengths of the plurality of cylindrical plies.

CATHETER HAVING TRANSITIONING SHAFT SEGMENTS

Method of forming a balloon catheter includes providing an elongate tubular shaft having an outer tubular member having proximal and distal portions, and an inner tubular member having a distal length extending distally from the distal portion of the outer tubular member. The elongate tubular shaft has an inflation lumen and a guidewire lumen defined therein. The guidewire lumen extends along at least the distal length of inner tubular member. The method also includes coupling a distal end section to a distal end of the inner tubular member and having a proximal end and a distal end. The method also includes coupling a proximal end of a balloon to the distal portion of the outer tubular member, and coupling a distal portion of the balloon to the distal end section. The balloon has a working length between the proximal end and the distal end. The balloon defines an inner chamber. The proximal end of the distal end section is disposed within the inner chamber.

Flat membrane element and method for producing same

The outer edge of a filtration membrane is thermally welded to a filter plate by a first thermal welding part. The first thermal welding part includes an outer boundary line disposed inside an outer edge of the filter plate and an inner boundary line disposed inside the outer boundary line. The outer boundary line has a plurality of first projected portions and first recessed portions that are alternately formed. The first projected portion projects toward the outer edge of the filter plate, and the first recessed portion is formed between the first projected portions and retracts in an inward direction A opposite to the outer edge of the filter plate.
