Systems and methods using multiple synchronized ultrasonic transducers to finish a part

An ultrasonic systems and methods for sealing complex interfaces or for metal forming. Complex interfaces, such as a Gable top, have multiple and a variety of layers across the interface, or an oval or round spout having a complex geometry. An example system includes two ultrasonic horns arranged opposite a gap between which the interface is provided. The frequency and phase of the ultrasonic energy are synchronized as the energy is applied simultaneously while the interface is pressed between a jaw and the energy is applied to both sides of the interface. Another example system includes two ultrasonic transducers synchronized in frequency and phase and used to vibrate a horn mechanically to facilitate a sealing or welding interface or to assist in a metal-forming process.

Laser welded body

Provided is a laser welded body which can be integrated through a laser-welding step without undergoing complicated steps even through use of the same or difference resin members each other, which has excellent welding strength between the resin members, which maintains the characteristics of a resin contained in the resin member and which exhibits the high welding strength by improving meltability of the resin members yet under a laser-welding condition of a medium and high scan speed. A laser welded body comprises a resin member(s) which contains a thermoplastic resin and nigrosine sulfate having a sulfate ion concentration of 0.3 to 5.0% by mass and has an absorbance a of 0.09 to 0.9, an adjoined part where the resin member(s) is overlapped and/or butted, and at least a part of the adjoined part is laser-welded.

IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO WIND TURBINE BLADE MANUFACTURE
20210180560 · 2021-06-17 ·

A method of making a wind turbine blade is described. The method involves providing a blade shell having an inner surface defining a mounting region and positioning a web in the mounting region. One or more web restraining devices are used to secure the position of the web in the mounting region. Each restraining device has a first portion attached to the web and a second portion attached to the inner surface of the blade shell. The restraining devices are configured to prevent movement of the web in a first plane substantially parallel to the mounting region and to permit movement of the web in a second plane substantially perpendicular to the mounting region. The method further comprises moving the web in the second plane away from the mounting region and performing one or more preparatory operations on the mounting region with the web moved away from the mounting region. The web is then repositioned in the mounting region by moving the web in the second plane back towards the mounting region.

COMPOSITE MATERIAL FORMING METHOD AND COMPOSITE MATERIAL
20210170699 · 2021-06-10 ·

Provided a composite material forming method capable of easily using a composite material that is formed by causing a resin to react in a state where it is joined to another member; and a composite material. The composite material forming method includes a first material preparation step (magnetic field circuit forming material preparation step S11), a second material preparation step (magnetic field circuit non-forming material preparation step S12), a material assembly step S13, and a first heating step (magnetic field heating step S14). In the first material preparation step, a first material including a first resin is prepared. In the second material preparation step, a second material including a second resin is prepared. In the material assembly step S13, the first material and the second material are assembled to each other.

Apparatus and Method for Making Inflated Articles

A sealing device generally includes a rotatable support cylinder having an outer, circumferential surface and a heating element disposed about such surface and secured thereto such that the heating element rotates therewith. The heating element is coiled about the outer surface of the cylinder in the form of an overlapping helical pattern. Juxtaposed film plies may be sealed together by bringing the sealing device into rotational contact with the juxtaposed film plies and heating the heating element to a temperature sufficient to cause the film plies to seal together.
