Provided is a thermal caulking device which caulks a portion of a plastic part 7 as an object to be caulked, the thermal caulking device including: a metal tip 3 having a pressing part 3a which presses the object to be caulked and a heating rod 3c which is provided upright at a center part of the pressing part 3a; heating means 10c for heating the heating rod 3c; a cooling pipe 9 which cools the heating rod 3c; cooling fluid supply means 4 for supplying a cooling fluid to the cooling pipe 9; a holder 1 which holds the metal tip 3 and the cooling pipe 9 so that the cooling pipe 9 delivers the cooling fluid toward the heating rod 3c; and control means 6 for controlling the heating means 10c and the cooling fluid supply means 4, wherein the control means 6 heats the pressing part 3a from the heating rod 3c by the heating means 10c, and after the object to be caulked is thermally caulked by the pressing part 3a, supplies the cooling fluid from the cooling fluid supply means 4 to the cooling pipe 9 to cool the pressing part 3a from the heating rod 3c.
STRAPPING APPARATUS
In order, in the case of a strapping apparatus for strapping articles with a strapping band, having a base plate which is provided for arranging on an article, having a tensioning device with which a band tension can be applied to the strapping band, the tensioning device being provided for this purpose with an actuable tensioning tool which can be brought into and out of contact with the band, having a sealing device with which, by contact with the band, two band layers can be permanently connected to each other by forming a seal between the two band layers, being provided with a clamping device which has at least one clamp with two interacting clamping elements for clamping the band between the clamping elements, and being provided with at least one actuating element with which a magnitude of a tensioning force which can be applied to the strapping band or a magnitude which is dependent on the tensioning force can be set, to improve the strength of friction-welded band strapping seals produced by the strapping apparatus, it is proposed that a cooling time period for the seal, during which the strapping apparatus does not release the strapping band after the end of a welding time, is variable depending on the variably adjustable tensioning force or a magnitude which is dependent thereon.
Fluid flow conduits and apparatus and methods for making and joining fluid conduits
Fluid flow conduits and apparatus and methods for joining the conduits, preferably in a sterile manner, are disclosed. Each conduit has a polymeric open end that is sealed by a sealing member that may include a heating element. The polymeric end material is melted, the sealing members are moved to expose the melted open ends of the conduits and the ends are brought together to form a fused or welded connection between the conduits.
ULTRASONIC WELDING AND RELATED TECHNIQUES FOR LUGGAGE
The techniques described herein relate to ultrasonic welding and related techniques for luggage. In some embodiments, a method of manufacturing a luggage component is provided that includes orienting a first component adjacent to a second component, wherein a first surface of the first component adjacent a second surface of the second component comprises a flat portion with one or more protrusions extending from the flat portion, and applying, via a horn sized to receive the first component, an ultrasonic vibration to melt the one or more protrusions to ultrasonically weld the first component to the second component.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ESTABLISHING OR FOR SEPARATING A CONNECTION HAVING MATERIAL CONTINUITY OR HAVING MATERIAL CONTINUITY AND SHAPE MATCHING OF AT LEAST ONE METAL OR CERAMIC COMPONENT AND OF A COMPONENT FORMED FROM OR BY A THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER
The invention relates to an apparatus and to a method for establishing a connection having material continuity or having material continuity and shaping matching or for separating such a connection of at least one metal or ceramic component and of a component formed from or by a thermoplastic polymer in which the components to be joined together can be pressed together by a pressing device having a counterholder and a plunger. A heating device is present at the plunger and/or at the counterholder or acts there. A heating of the at least one metal or ceramic component up to above the softening temperature of the component formed from or by polymer can be achieved with the heating device, with the heating device being having at least one electrical resistance heating element that is covered by an electrically insulating, preferably ceramic, protective film, and/or having at least one laser beam that is directed to the metal component(s) within the joining region, and/or having at least one inductor present at the plunger and/or at the counterholder for the inductive heating of the meal component(s).
