Laser joining method and laser joining device for fusing workpieces
A laser joining method and device includes a pressure-applying clamping device, which presses a first and a second workpiece against one another at least after the workpieces have been locally plasticized, and a mask having mask structures, which allow laser light to pass only in the region of the bonding contact faces, wherein at least the workpiece facing the laser source is formed by a three-dimensional molded part, which is not planar at least on the first contour side facing the clamping element and/or on the second contour side facing the second workpiece, and wherein the clamping element, with the bearing side thereof for the first workpiece, is adapted to the first contour side of the first workpiece. The mask structures are created on the bearing side of the clamping element facing the first workpiece or on the second contour side of the first workpiece facing the second workpiece.
Magnetic clamping heat sink assembly
A magnetic clamping heat sink assembly is disclosed including a magnetic assembly with a carrier body including a magnet. A spring resiliently biases the carrier body. A base assembly includes a base plate. In a first operating condition, the base assembly of the magnetic clamping heat sink assembly is positioned in a first position away from a ferromagnetic element, and the spring holds the carrier body at a medial position spaced apart from the base plate. In a second operating condition, the base assembly of the magnetic clamping heat sink assembly is positioned in a second position adjacent to the ferromagnetic element, and the carrier body is driven downward against a force of the spring to a lower position and into contact with the base plate by magnetic attraction between the at least one magnet and the ferromagnetic element.
INDUCTION WELDING USING A HEAT SINK AND/OR COOLING
A method of induction welding a first thermoplastic composite (TPC) to a second thermoplastic composite (TPC) includes inductively heating a weld interface area between the first TPC and the second TPC, and cooling a surface of the first TPC opposite the weld interface area while inductively heating the weld interface area.
INDUCTION WELDING USING A HEAT SINK AND/OR COOLING
A heat sink for use in induction welding includes a number of tiles, wherein the tiles are electrically non-conductive and have a thermal diffusivity of greater than about 25 mm2/sec. A joint flexibly joins the tiles together.
FLEXIBLE MAT WITH FLUID CONDUIT, METHOD OF MANUFACTURE THEREOF AND APPARATUS FOR THE MANUFACTURE THEREOF
The present invention provides a flexible mat with fluid conduit, methods of manufacture thereof and apparatus for the manufacture thereof. In an embodiment, the mat comprises a base layer, one or more fluid conduits and a thermoplastic bonding tape that attaches the fluid conduits to the base layer. The base layer can be a textile fabric, mesh or netting, or a flat flexible sheet. The base layer is preferably also formed of a thermoplastic layer. The fluid conduits can carry heated or cooled fluid, such as water, that can be used for heating or cooling an environment in which the device is deployed. For example, the device can be used for heating or cooling in a greenhouse environment. The fluid conduits can additionally or alternatively carry irrigation fluids, such as water or treated water, for irrigating plants and crops. The fluid conduits can additionally or alternatively carry gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) or carbon dioxide mixed with other gasses, for treating plants and crops.
INDUCTION WELDING USING A HEAT SINK AND/OR COOLING
A method of induction welding a first thermoplastic composite (TPC) to a second thermoplastic composite (TPC) using an induction coil includes forming a weld interface area between the first TPC and the second TPC, cooling the first TPC with a cooling apparatus before heating by the induction coil, and inductively heating the weld interface area with the induction coil after cooling the first TPC.
INDUCTION WELDING USING A HEAT SINK AND/OR COOLING
A heat sink for use in induction welding includes a flexible backing and a number of tiles disposed on the flexible backing in a single layer, wherein the tiles are electrically non-conductive and thermally conductive.
INDUCTION WELDING USING A HEAT SINK AND/OR COOLING
A heat sink for use in induction welding includes a number of tiles, where the tiles are electrically non-conductive and thermally conductive, a joint flexibly joining the tiles together, and a fluid path formed through the heat sink for communicating a coolant therethrough.
INDUCTION WELDING USING A HEAT SINK AND/OR COOLING
A method of dissipating heat from a surface of a first thermoplastic composite (TPC) being inductively welded with a second thermoplastic composite (TPC) includes flexing a heat sink during placement to conform to the surface of the first TPC, cooling the heat sink, applying inductive heat to a weld interface area between the first TPC and the second TPC, and drawing off heat via the heat sink from the surface of the first TPC.
INDUCTION WELDING USING A HEAT SINK AND/OR COOLING
A method of induction welding a first carbon fiber thermoplastic composite (TPC) to a second carbon fiber thermoplastic composite (TPC) using an induction coil includes aligning the first TPC with the second TPC to form a weld interface area, flexing a heat sink onto a surface of the first TPC between the weld interface area and the induction coil, and inductively heating the weld interface area with the induction coil.
