ROOF AND WALL COVER SYSTEM
A method of providing covers over at least a portion of a roof of a storm damaged built structure that includes the steps of: applying a sheet of heat shrinkable film over the portion of the roof, the sheet having a leading edge and a trailing edge and being a film of low density polyethylene including shrinking resins; wrapping portions of the leading edge around a first batten and attaching the first batten to the underside of a first eave or to the facia of the built structure; wrapping portions of the trailing edge around a second batten and attaching the second batten to the underside of a second eave or to the facia of the built structure at a location different than the first batten; and heating the sheet of heat shrinkable film to bring the film into conformity with the portion of the roof, wherein the heating step shrinks the sheet of film tight against the built structure to cover over the portion of the roof.
METHOD FOR THE INSPECTION OF BONDING PATTERNS OF PACKAGES FOR PRODUCTS
A non-destructive, non-invasive method for inspection of bonding patterns of packages for products, such as patches or medicated patches, involves thermally probing the packages and the bonding patterns and retrieving a thermal response thereof. The inspection is based in the analysis of the thermal response.
Assemblies, Riveted Assemblies, Methods for Affixing Substrates, and Methods for Mixing Materials to Form a Metallurgical Bond
Riveted assemblies are provided that can include a substrate extending between two ends to define opposing substrate surfaces having a first opening extending between the opposing substrate surfaces; a metal-comprising substrate extending between two ends to define opposing metal-comprising substrate surfaces having a second opening extending between the opposing metal-comprising substrate surfaces. The riveted assemblies can further provide that the first and second openings complement one another when the substrate and metal-comprising substrate are engaged; and a rivet shaft extends through the openings and engages the substrate with the rivet head and the metal-comprising substrate with the rivet stop head, at least a portion of the stop head being mixed with, and forming a metallurgical bond with the metal-comprising substrate. Assemblies are provided that can include a rivet stop head mixed with, and metallurgically bonded with a metal-comprising substrate.
Methods for affixing substrates to one another are also provided. The methods can include providing a substrate defining an opening configured to receive a rivet shaft; providing a metal-comprising substrate defining a complimentary opening; operatively engaging the substrates with the rivet shaft; and forming a stop head from the rivet shaft to affix the substrates. The method further includes that the stop head mixes with, and forms a metallurgical bond with the metal-comprising substrate. Methods for mixing materials to form a metallurgical bond are also provided. The methods can include forming a metallurgical bond between a stop head of a rivet and a metal-comprising substrate.
Method of anchoring a first object in a second object
A method for joining two objects by anchoring an insert portion provided on a first object in an opening provided on a second object. The anchorage is achieved by liquefaction of a thermoplastic material and interpenetration of the liquefied material and a penetrable material, the two materials being arranged on opposite surfaces of the insert portion and the wall of the opening. During the step of inserting the insert portion in the opening and/or during anchorage a clamping force is applied to opposing surfaces of the second object to prevent the second object from cracking or bulging.
Method and apparatus for assembling absorbent articles
The present disclosure relates to assembling elastic laminates that may be used to make absorbent article components. Methods herein may include an anvil adapted to rotate about an axis of rotation, wherein first and second spreader mechanisms adjacent the anvil roll are axially and angularly displaced from each other with respect to the axis of rotation. During the assembly process, a substrate may be advanced in a machine direction onto the rotating anvil. The first spreader mechanism stretches a first elastic material in the cross direction, and the second spreader mechanism stretches a second elastic material in the cross direction. The stretched first and second elastic materials advance from the spreader mechanisms and onto the substrate on the anvil roll. The combined and elastic materials may then be ultrasonically bonded together on the anvil to form at least one elastic laminate.
Cycloolefin polymer bonding method
A cycloolefin polymer (COP) bonding method wherein a first material that is COP and a second material that is COP or glass are bonded. The method includes: a step of exposing at least a bonding surface of the first material to H.sub.2O plasma; and a step of mating the bonding surface of the first material and a bonding surface of the second material. According to the method, the cycloolefin polymer (COP) can be bonded to a target material without applying high pressure or high temperature, and without affecting the optical properties.
Fastening method and fastening apparatus
In a fastening method and fastening apparatus, workpieces are fastened using a fastener made of a thermoplastic polymer comprising carbon fibers. The method and apparatus involve induction heating of the carbon fibers to soften the thermoplastic polymer and then plastically deforming axial ends of the fastener using a die or dies to form first and second heads while a shaft body or a shaft part of the thermoplastic polymer comprising the carbon fibers is inserted through respective through holes formed in the workpieces.
Sheet-feeding device and sheet-feeding method
A first shaft control section is configured to control rotation of a first support shaft supporting a first roll such that a sheet is unwound from the first roll at a predetermined running speed. A second shaft control section is configured to execute a first rotation control of regulating a rotational speed of a second support shaft supporting a second roll such that a peripheral speed of the second roll coincides with the predetermined running speed of the sheet of the first roll. The second shaft control section is configured to regulate the rotational speed of the second support shaft by acceleration or deceleration such that an adhesive on an outer peripheral surface of the second roll arrives at a pressing position when a target joining portion of the sheet of the first roll meets the pressing position.
Thermoplastic resin composition for laser welding, molded article made of same, and composite molded article
Provided is a thermoplastic resin composition suitable for laser welding which has a laser transparency, a good laser weldability, mechanical properties, a high hydrolysis resistance, a laser-welded composite molded article such as a composite article obtained by laser-welding molded resin parts, and a method of laser welding such molded resin articles. The thermoplastic resin composition contains (A) polybutylene terephthalate, (B) polycarbonate, (C) reinforcing fiber, (D) epoxy compound, (E) carbodiimide compound, and (F) phosphorus-based stabilizer.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING COMPOSITE MEMBER, AND COMPOSITE MEMBER
A method for manufacturing a composite member, in which a composite member having a high joining strength can be manufactured in an inexpensive and efficient way; and the composite member. A metal member and a resin-containing member are joined together by heating the metal member while pressing the resin-containing member against a metal porous film formed on a surface of the metal member. The porous film is formed by impacting the surface of the metal member with metal powder by the cold spray process.
