A livestock blower apparatus for blowing air through a flexible hose onto an animal. A pair of blower units are enclosed within an interior space of a housing. The blower units are adapted to draw air through housing inlet openings and force it through a Y-shaped conduit out through a housing outlet opening without the air coming in contact with the housing interior space. A system and method for automatically drying-off a machine-milked dairy animal by controlling milk production during a gradual drying-off period. During the gradual drying-off period, the dairy animal is not milked out. For each milking during this period, an amount of milk to be removed is determined, which is less than the amount removed at a previous milking. When the amount of milk for the current milking has been removed from the dairy animal, milking is stopped. The start of the gradual drying-off period is calculated from the dry-off date, the desired date of cessation of milking for this lactation, and from a predetermined drying-off period.

The control module and the power module are electrically connected and are accommodated in the accommodation space. The roller is arranged at the front end of the shelf and is connected with the power module. The roller can be driven by the power module to rotate. The roller comprises a roller main body and multiple comb assemblies. The power module drives the roller main body to rotate, and the multiple comb assemblies can alternatively and circularly extend from the roller main body or retract into an accommodation space of the roller main body with the rotation of the roller main body.

A method for treating laminitis (and/or for preventing or treating lameness) in hooved animals, comprising: preparing a medicament comprising a topical anti-inflammatory solution; and applying the medicament to hooves of the animals via an automated animal treatment system. In certain embodiments, the topical anti-inflammatory solution comprises magnesium sulfate, preferably 1.5% to 7.5% magnesium sulfate.
