CONNECTING PIECE FOR MULTILAYERED CONDUITS, METHOD OF CONNECTING, AND ASSEMBLY OBTAINED BY THE METHOD
Coupling piece for an outer end of a multilayered conduit, comprising a coupling pipe which is provided on the outer side with a radially upright wall, wherein the wall is widened in axial direction at a radial distance from the outer side of the body, wherein the outer side of the coupling pipe, the upright wall and the widened portion enclose an annular insertion space into which the outer end of the conduit can be directly inserted, and wherein the radial distance between the widened portion of the wall and the outer side of the coupling pipe at the position of the entry to the insertion space is such that it is equal to or greater than the wall thickness of the conduit, wherein an inner diameter of the coupling pipe increases in outward direction at the exit.
Extrusion Apparatus and Method Using Variable Extrusion Gate
A thermoplastic composite structure is produced by extruding a bead of composite material to a desired cross sectional shape. An extruder extrudes the polymer bead containing reinforcing fibers, using a low compression first extruder stage where the polymer is mixed and de-gassed, and a high compression second stage where the polymer is consolidated and extruded. The cross sectional profile of the polymer bead may be altered using a variable extruder gate.
2-Stage Extrusion Apparatus and Method of Extrusion
A thermoplastic composite structure is produced by extruding a bead of composite material to a desired cross sectional shape. An extruder extrudes the polymer bead containing reinforcing fibers, using a low compression first extruder stage where the polymer is mixed and de-gassed, and a high compression second stage where the polymer is consolidated and extruded. The cross sectional profile of the polymer bead may be altered using a variable extruder gate.
HOLLOW COMPOSITE STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING
A method of manufacturing a hollow composite structure is provided. The method includes curing a first portion of the hollow composite structure having at least one open region and at least one wall, the at least one wall partially defining a hollow interior. The method also includes bonding a laminate shell to the first portion of the hollow composite structure proximate to at least one location of the wall to cover the open region and enclose the hollow interior. The method further includes disposing a second portion of the hollow composite structure over the laminate shell, the second portion comprising a plurality of plies. The method yet further includes curing the first portion and the second portion during a final cure.
IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO WIND TURBINE BLADE MANUFACTURE
A method of making a wind turbine blade, and the turbine blade resulting form the process, is described in which correct alignment of the shear webs (42a, 42b) upon mould (30) closing is ensured. The method involves providing a first half shell (32a) and a second half shell (32b) to be joined together to form the wind turbine blade. A first edge (46) of a shear web (42) is attached to an inner surface (36a) of the first half shell (32a). A shear web mounting region is defined on an inner surface (36b) of the second half shell (32b). At least one guide block (60a, 60b) is attached to the inner surface (36b) of the second half shell (32b) adjacent to the shear web (42) mounting region. The guide block (60a, 60b) has a guide surface (70) oriented transversely to the inner surface of the second half shell (36b). Upon mould (30) closing, the first and second half shells (32a, 32b) are brought together whilst a second edge (52) of the shear web (42) is guided over the guide surface (70) of the mounting block (60a, 60b) towards the shear web mounting region defined on the inner surface (36b) of the second half shell (32b).
Composite filler
A method and apparatus is presented. A layer of composite material is laid up on a forming tool. A bend is formed in the layer on the forming tool to form a bent layer. A laminate stack and the bent layer are assembled to form the composite filler.
Composite Filler
A method and apparatus is presented. Layers of composite material are laid down on a forming tool. A respective bend is formed in each of the layers to form the composite filler comprising bent layers on the forming tool. The composite filler comprising the bent layers is placed into a gap formed by at least one composite structure.
Manufacturing Method for Joined Body
A manufacturing method for a joined body, includes: bringing a first member and a second member into contact with each other, at least one of the first member and the second member being made of thermoplastic resin, and the second member having a recessed portion on a joining surface to be joined to the first member; and welding the first member and the second member together, including welding a contact portion of the first member and the second member by melting the thermoplastic resin by frictional heat generated in the contact portion by relative movement of the first member and the second member, in a state in which the first member and the second member are in contact with each other.
Connecting piece for multilayered conduits, method of connecting, and assembly obtained by the method
A coupling piece for an outer end of a multilayered conduit, includes a coupling pipe which is provided on the outer side with a radially upright wall, wherein the wall is widened in an axial direction at a radial distance from the outer side of the body. The outer side of the coupling pipe, the upright wall and the widened portion enclose an annular insertion space into which the outer end of the conduit can be directly inserted, wherein the inner wall of the coupling pipe is reinforced with an adjacent reinforcing layer which has a greater strength than the material of the coupling pipe. The reinforcing layer is provided with axial engaging elements, while the inner wall is provided with axial connecting elements which correspond with and connect to the engaging elements.
Method for connecting plastic tubes by plastically deforming and widening connecting stub
A method for coaxially connecting a first plastic tube (10, 110) to a second plastic tube (20, 120), said plastic tubes (10, 20) in particular being provided as part of a medical catheter (102), the two plastic tubes (10, 20) being connected by way of a tubular connecting piece (50), characterized in that the first plastic tube (10) and/or the second plastic tube (20) are integrally molded from the outside onto the tubular connecting piece (50) using a forming process such that an adhesive and/or positive connection is produced.
