Induction Heat Sealable Closure Liner Configured for Paper or Plastic Recycling Stream, and Induction Heat Seal Application Device
A structure and method of forming a metal foil-less liner, such that the entire liner can be recycled in a respective paper or plastic recycling stream. A separate application device is provided, which includes a metal layer, that is used to induction heat seal the liner to the container rim. The application device is removable, allowing a plastic closure cap to be applied over the liner sealed container rim, to provide the final product for sale to the consumer, who then removes the cap and peels off or pierces through the liner to dispense the product through the open mouth of the container. The application device is also reusable, i.e., it can be used to attach a subsequent liner to another container rim. The result is a liner that is fully recyclable in a paper or plastic recycling stream. In one embodiment, the entire container package may be recyclable, namely the plastic container is recyclable in a plastic recycle stream, the plastic container cap is recyclable in a plastic recycle stream (same or different than the recycle stream for the container), and the entire liner is recyclable in a paper or plastic recycle stream (which may be the same as one or more of the recycle streams for the container and cap). The result is also a sustainable packaging solution where the application device that generates heat for induction heat sealing can also be re-used.
PAPER-BASED COMPOSITE CONTAINER FOR OFF-GASSING PRODUCTS, AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME
A paper-based composite container for an off-gassing product includes a paperboard can body having a substantially gas-impervious liner attached to an inner surface thereof, and a pair of substantially paper-based end closures attached to the opposite ends of the can body, each end closure defining a generally cylindrical sealing panel in contact with an inner surface of the can body. Heat-sealable materials are disposed on opposing surfaces of the sealing panel and can body. The sealing panels of the end closures are attached to the can body by heat seals. The heat seal for at least one of the end closures is discontinuous such that at least one vent channel extends through the heat seal to establish fluid communication between an interior of the container and the environment outside the container. The at least one vent channel is operable to vent excess gas pressure from the interior of the container.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF BUBBLE CLOSURE FORMATION FOR PACKAGING
Methods, systems, and apparatuses of a fluid bubble valve device or element can comprise a plurality of films or webs aligned over the top of each other. For example, two separate webs or film layers of material can be made with two or more different layers of films combined to provide different necessary benefits in manufacturing or forming the valve and sealing to a pouch or package later. The two individual forming webs or film layers are fed into a machine together where channel seals and a bubble pocket are created to form a pathway for a controlled direction for a fluid product to later flow through when the completed pouch or package is used by the consumer. The pocket is formed on both of the two individual forming webs or film layers at the same time. A separate lidding web or layer of material is introduced and sealed over the underside of the bubble pocket to trap air or gas between the lidding layer and the combined individual forming webs or film layers.
Tape applicator with split wiper
A tape applicator consistent with the present disclosure may include a tape applicator configured for applying a tape, such as a pressure sensitive adhesive tape to a carton (e.g., for sealing and/or assembling the carton). One or more rollers may be utilized to aid in applying the pressure sensitive adhesive tape to a carton. Furthermore, a wiper aids in applying pressure sensitive adhesive tape to a carton (e.g., before and/or after the one or more rollers). The wiper may be a split wiper having a first portion and a second portion, which allows for applying adhesive tape to a carton when the carton is under-packed or over-packed, and thus, the flaps of the carton are not level with respect to each other (e.g., the edges are not located in the same plane).

The result is also a sustainable packaging solution where the application device that generates heat for induction heat sealing can also be re-used.
Tamper evident card package and method
A tamper evident card package includes a first portion comprising plastic polymer and defining a cavity extending from a base surface of the first portion. A second portion comprises a flat sheet of plastic polymer joined to the first at a seal extending around an entirety of a perimeter of the tamper evident card package, where the first portion and the second portion form a unitary structure at the seal. An insert contained between the first portion and the second portion includes a point-of-sale activated card and machine readable activation information for the point-of-sale activated card from an exterior of the tamper evident card package.
