Method for reinforcing a base structure
A method for reinforcing an existing base structure with at least one reinforcing structure so as to form a support structure having the following steps: producing the at least one reinforcing structure, connecting the at least one reinforcing structure to the base structure such that the at least one reinforcing structure is connected to the base structure in a connection position and the base structure together with the at least one reinforcing structure forms the support structure. The at least one reinforcing structure is made of a composite material comprising fibers and a matrix by means of pultrusion and/or extrusion, and a pultrusion unit and/or an extrusion unit is moved in space such that the at least one reinforcing structure, is pultruded and/or extruded onto the base structure at the respective required connection position after the pultrusion and/or extrusion.
SELECTIVE ATTACHMENT OF A YARN STRUCTURE
A method and system are disclosed. A method of printing onto a base having an upper surface spaced from a lower surface by a base thickness includes dispensing a yarn from a nozzle of a printing system and selectively attaching the yarn to a first attachment region. The step of dispensing the yarn includes dispensing a heat-moldable material and a melt-resistant material. The step of selectively attaching the yarn to the first attachment region includes moving the nozzle into the first attachment region. The step of moving the nozzle into the first attachment region reduces the base thickness by a prodding distance. The heat-moldable material bonds to the first attachment region.
Method of printing a contoured object using color and structural layers
A method of printing a three-dimensional color object having a contoured surface onto a substrate includes printing color ink layers and structural ink layers. A color ink layer is printed onto the substrate. Structural ink layers are printed onto the color ink layer to build the three-dimensional shape of the object. The contoured surface is formed from varying the heights of pixel columns in the printing information. The heights of the pixel columns may be varied by printing different numbers of layers in adjacent columns or by printing the same number of layers in adjacent columns where some pixels in a column have different thicknesses than other pixels in the column.
Attachment methods for surface features of wind turbine rotor blades
The present disclosure is directed to methods for attaching a plurality of surface features to a rotor blade of a wind turbine. Such methods may include direct molding of the surface features to the rotor blade, bonding arrays of connected components to the rotor blade and subsequently removing connections between components, as well as using a flexible template with or without a tinted adhesive.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN EXTRUDATE
Aspects of the disclosure relate to methods and systems for producing a preferably strand-like extrudate.
COMPOSITE WHEEL ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING
A composite wheel assembly and method of fabricating the same is provided. The wheel assembly includes a composite wheel rim, a wheel center, and a plurality of attachment fasteners for attaching the wheel center to the wheel rim. The wheel rim includes a plurality of attachment inserts that are configured to selectively engage with respective attachment fasteners. Each attachment insert is encapsulated by a plurality of composite layers of the wheel rim or is otherwise secured to the wheel rim. The attachment inserts extend from and/or are positioned within a drop well region of the wheel rim. The method of fabricating the wheel assembly includes forming first and second preforms and positioning the same onto a mold assembly. The method further includes positioning the attachment inserts between the first and second preforms such that the attachment inserts are secured therebetween.

Enhanced volatile removal for composite layup
A composite article lay up comprising a first layer of resin impregnated fiber material and a second layer of resin impregnated fiber material. An open cell material is layered between the first layer and the second layer. The open cell material has no resin during a first stage of a resin cure cycle. The open cell material has passages configured to flow volatiles formed during the first stage of the resin cure cycle. The open cell material is configured to fill with the resin during a second stage of the resin cure cycle. The open cell material is configured to form an integral structure with the first layer and the second layer as part of the composite article at the completion of the resin cure cycle.
Assay Cartridges and Methods of Using the Same
Assay cartridges are described that have a detection chamber, preferably having integrated electrodes, and other fluidic components which may include sample chambers, waste chambers, conduits, vents, bubble traps, reagent chambers, dry reagent pill zones and the like. In certain embodiments, these cartridges are adapted to receive and analyze a sample collected on an applicator stick. Also described are kits including such cartridges and a cartridge reader configured to analyze an assay conducted using an assay cartridge.
