ULTRA-STRETCHABLE ELECTRICAL AND HEAT CONDUCTIVE ARRANGEMENT
A wearable accessory capable of communicating data to actuators or from sensors is disclosed. The wearable accessory includes a conductor wire disposed in a moldable medium according to a predetermined pattern, the moldable medium being an electrically insulating material, the conductor wire terminating at an input and an output.
Method for producing a hybrid-structure part of a motor vehicle and corresponding hybrid-structure part
The invention concerns a method for producing a hybrid-structure part of a motor vehicle, comprising shaping of a sheet of metallic material, the provision of a sheet of composite material, application of a layer of connecting material on a face of said metallic material sheet or on a face of said composite material sheet, the shaping of a hybrid element by shaping said composite material sheet to the shape of said metallic material sheet and joining the composite material sheet to the metallic material sheet by means of said connecting material layer, and the production of rigidification elements by overmoulding using a polymer material.
Structural component
A structural component for an aircraft, spacecraft or rocket has a ply of fiber reinforced polymer, a first carbon nanotube mat; and a metallic layer, wherein the carbon nanotube mat and the metallic layer are arranged on the ply of fiber reinforced polymer to form a hybrid lightning strike protection layer. A component for manufacturing such a structural component, a method for manufacturing a component of this type, a method for manufacturing a structural component and an aircraft or spacecraft with such a structural component are described.
Lightning strike dispersion for composite aircraft structures
A lightning strike dispersion structure may include a composite component having an outboard surface, wherein the composite component is electrically nonconductive. The lightning strike dispersion structure may include a metal sheet coupled to and extending across a minority portion of the outboard surface of the composite component, wherein the metal sheet is electrically conductive. The lightning strike dispersion structure may also include a metal stud coupled to and in electrical contact with the metal sheet, the metal stud extending completely through the composite component, wherein the metal stud is electrically conductive.
Co-molded metallic fan case containment ring
A method of fabricating a fan case for a gas turbine engine defines a metallic ring including an outer surface and an inner surface. A first composite material is assembled about the outer surface of the metallic ring. A second composite material is assembled about the first composite material. The first composite material and the second material are cured about the metallic ring within a tool to form a first subassembly. The first subassembly is removed from the tool. A fan case assembly for a gas turbine engine and a gas turbine engine are also disclosed.
PROCESS FOR 3D PRINTING AN ARTICLE INCORPORATING A CONDUCTIVE CIRCUIT COMMUNICATING WITH A SEPARATELY INSTALLABLE ELECTRICAL COMPONENT AND AN ARTICLE PRODUCED THEREBY
An improved process combining a first insulating filament (ABS/TPE/TPG) material with a second conductive filament (Graphite PLA) material during a 3D printing operation in order to produce a part (not limited to head/tail lamp bezels, hearing aids and cardio monitors incorporating circuitry for providing power, lighting and enhanced heat removal. The process includes the step of modifying the additive process programming at determined intermediate points to allow for installation of non-3D printable electrical components (resistors, diodes, etc.), such as in a lay-in press-fit technique in order to communicate with the conductive pathways incorporated in the printed circuit board article.
Wind turbine blade having a lightning protection system and method of making the same
A method of making a wind turbine blade incorporating a lightning protection system includes providing a blade mold; arranging a protruding element in the mold; arranging an electrically conductive layer over the protruding element; arranging one or more structural layers and/or structural components over the conductive layer; consolidating the layers under vacuum to form a blade shell having the conductive layer proximate an outer surface of the shell; separating the protruding element from the blade shell to define a recess with the conductive layer extending into the recess; providing an electrical component adjacent an inner surface of the shell; and electrically connecting the conductive layer to the component. An end portion of the connecting member is housed in the recess such that a surface of the connecting member abuts the conductive layer inside the recess.
FIBER REINFORCED SYSTEMS WITH ELECTROSTATIC DISSIPATION
Systems and methods of forming fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites with electrostatic dissipative properties are described herein. The FRP composite is bonded to a surface and integrates a grounding system to dissipate electro-static energy, thus eliminating the potential risk of explosion. The system can be used for structures that require reinforcement and that are susceptible to electro-static explosions.
