Double vacuum bag method and adjustable support structure
A method is provided for working on a composite body. This method includes: disposing material within an aperture in the composite body, the material comprising fiber reinforcement and uncured resin, and the aperture extending into the composite body from a non-planar surface; forming a first chamber between the composite body and a first bag member, the material within the first chamber; disposing a support structure on the first bag member, the support structure overlapping the material; forming a second chamber between the first bag member and a second bag member, the support structure within the second chamber; drawing a vacuum of a first amount in the first chamber; and drawing a vacuum of a second amount in the second chamber.
Hollow bladder repair process
Disclosed herein is a method of repairing surface damage in an exterior surface of a hollow bladder, made of a cured elastomer. The method comprises placing first strips, made of an uncured elastomer, at least partially within the surface damage in the exterior surface of the hollow bladder in a side-by-side arrangement. The method also comprises sealing the surface damage, the first strips, and a portion of the exterior surface surrounding the surface damage in a vacuum bag. The method further comprises reducing pressure within the vacuum bag relative to outside the vacuum bag. The method additionally comprises while the pressure within the vacuum bag is reduced, heating the first strips from within the vacuum bag to cure the first strips.
Aircraft repair patch applicator tool
A repair tool for applying a coating patch includes a heating element, a flexible bladder disposed adjacent the heating element, and an inflexible shell disposed about the flexible bladder. The inflexible shell defines a negative space corresponding to a plurality of sides of an aircraft component. A controller is communicatively coupled to the heating element and the bladder, and is configured to control a temperature of the heating element and a pressure of the flexible bladder.

Methods for modifying wind turbine blade molds
The present disclosure is directed methods for modifying molds of rotor blades of a wind turbine. In certain embodiments, the blade mold is constructed, at least in part, of a thermoplastic material optionally reinforced with a fiber material. In one embodiment, the method includes identifying at least one blade mold addition for the mold of the rotor blade and positioning the blade mold addition at a predetermined location of the mold of the rotor blade. Further, the blade mold addition is constructed, at least in part, of a thermoplastic material. Thus, the method includes applying at least one of heat, pressure, or one or more chemicals at an interface of the blade mold addition and the mold so as to join the blade mold addition to the mold. In further embodiments, the methods described herein are also directed repairing thermoplastic blade molds.

SATURATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PIPELINE AND PRESSURE VESSEL REPAIR
A system (10) for reinforcing a pipeline (90) or pressure vessel includes a dispenser (12), a quantity of fabric (14), and a resin (16). The dispenser (12) has a first end (39), a second end (32), and a slot (46) formed in a wall (48), and is pressurizable via a fluid input (74) to a pressurized state. The dispenser (12) has a seal (56) configured to permit the quantity of fabric (14) to pass through the slot (46) and retain pressure within the dispenser (12). The dispenser (12) is configured to dispense the quantity of fabric (14) through the slot (46). The quantity of fabric (14) has a first width (24).
Near-Field Microwave Heating System and Method
A microwave heating device includes a variable frequency microwave power supply, a waveguide launcher, and a fixture to contain a material to be heated, with the fixture located directly adjacent to the end of the launcher. All heating occurs in the near-field region. This condition may be insured by keeping the thickness of the fixture or workpiece under one wavelength (at all microwave frequencies being used). The launcher is preferably a horn or waveguide configured to apply the microwave power to a small area to perform spot curing or repair operations involving adhesives and composites. The spot curing may secure components in place for further handling, after which a thermal or oven treatment will cure the remaining adhesive to develop adequate strength for service. A related method is also disclosed.
Taping apparatus, system and method for pipe lining applications
A taping apparatus adapted to apply tape over voids on an interior pipe wall, the taping apparatus having a transport assembly adapted to move the apparatus through a pipe; and a rotatable taping assembly adapted to retain a roll of tape and apply the tape over a void on the interior wall of the pipe, the taping assembly comprising an extendable and tractable arm assembly and a tape applicator assembly.
