A high efficiency work vehicle drivetrain contains a variator having an inline dual planetary configuration. The work vehicle drivetrain includes an engine, an auxiliary power takeoff (PTO) shaft coupled to the engine and rotatable about a primary power path axis when driven by the engine, and the variator assembly. The variator assembly includes a variator motor and a variator gearbox. The variator gearbox contains a planetary gear system, which is coupled to the variator motor and to the auxiliary PTO shaft. The planetary gear system is rotatable about a planetary axis, which is coaxial with the primary power path axis.
Independent doffer drive system for a cotton harvester row unit
A doffer assembly for a cotton harvester having at least one drum and a spindle. The doffer assembly includes an outer housing and a plurality of doffers adapted to remove cotton from the spindle. The assembly further includes a drive unit coupled to the outer housing for rotatably driving the plurality of doffers independently of at least one drum and spindle. A drive shaft is rotatably driven by the drive unit, and an interface adapter is coupled between the drive shaft and the plurality of doffers. The drive unit may be an electric motor, hydraulic motor, a mechanical drive system, or a combination thereof.
COTTON HARVESTER POWER MANAGEMENT
A cotton harvester having a prime mover providing power to the cotton harvester, a controller monitoring a load on the prime mover and storing a load threshold, a drum rotatable about a first axis at a drum speed, a plurality of spindles for harvesting cotton, the plurality of spindles rotatable at a spindle speed and a doffer assembly rotatable about a second axis at a duffer speed. Wherein, when the controller detects a load on the prime mover greater than the load threshold, the spindle speed is reduced.
Variator for work vehicle drivetrain
High efficiency work vehicle drivetrains containing variator assemblies are provided. In one embodiment, the work vehicle drivetrain includes an engine, a variator assembly, and an auxiliary power takeoff (PTO) shaft, which is coupled to the engine and rotatable about a primary power path axis when driven by the engine. The variator assembly includes, in turn, a variator motor and a variator gearbox. The variator gearbox contains a planetary gear system, which is coupled to the variator motor and to the auxiliary PTO shaft. The planetary gear system is rotatable about a planetary axis substantially parallel and offset from the primary power path axis.
Round module weighing using differential pressure sensing
A harvester generates a round module and positions the round module on a handler. The handler includes a cylinder having a base end and a rod end. A differential pressure across the cylinder is detected. A round module weight is generated based on the detected differential pressure.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AN AIR-ASSISTED CONVEYING SYSTEM OF AN AGRICULTURAL HARVESTER
An air-assisted conveying system of an agricultural harvester includes a controller configured to receive a first sensor signal indicative of a first air pressure at a first location within a line and to receive a second sensor signal indicative of a second air pressure at a second location within the line. Furthermore, the controller is configured to determine an air pressure differential based on the first air pressure and the second air pressure. In response to determining the air pressure differential is greater than a threshold value, the controller is configured to control a supplemental air source to provide supplemental air to the line for a supplemental air duration. In addition, in response to determining the air pressure differential is greater than the threshold value during the supplemental air duration, the controller is configured to control an operational air source to increase an operational air flow through the line.
INDEPENDENT DRUM DRIVE SYSTEM FOR A COTTON HARVESTER ROW UNIT
A picking unit of a cotton harvester row unit includes a drum rotatable about an axis and a plurality of spindles for harvesting cotton. The plurality of spindles is coupled to the drum. A first drive unit rotatably drives the plurality of spindles. A second drive unit produces electrical power to drive a drive shaft. An output gear is coupled to the drive shaft, and a drum drive gear is coupled to the output gear. The drum drive gear rotatably drives the drum such that the output gear operably transfers power from the drive shaft to the drum drive gear. The drum is operably controlled independently of the plurality of spindles.
INDEPENDENT DOFFER DRIVE SYSTEM FOR A COTTON HARVESTER ROW UNIT
A doffer assembly for a cotton harvester having at least one drum and a spindle. The doffer assembly includes an outer housing and a plurality of doffers adapted to remove cotton from the spindle.
