An injection apparatus is configured to feed a molten resin into an injection molding section of an injection stretch blow molding machine. The injection apparatus uniformly melts a resin material while the duration from the time of starting plasticizing and kneading till completion of injection is shortened, thereby allowing the operation of the injection apparatus to fall within the time corresponding to the reduced injection molding process in the injection stretch blow molding machine. Thus, the molding cycle for a hollow body is reduced. In this context, at the start of the filling for each injection cycle, the injection apparatus starts plasticizing and kneading for generating the molten resin for injection in the next injection cycle.

A measuring apparatus of bulk viscosity includes a temperature-controlling cylinder having a test chamber for holding a molding material and at least one piston configured to seal an opening of the temperature-controlling cylinder. The temperature-controlling cylinder and the at least one piston are configured for measuring pressures, specific volumes and temperatures (PVT) of the molding material by applying a plurality of cooling rates to the molding material inside the testing chamber under an isobaric environment, or applying a plurality of mechanical pressures to the molding material inside the testing chamber under an isothermal environment. The measuring apparatus further includes a process module configured for deriving a plurality of parameters in relation to the pressures, specific volumes and temperatures (PVT) of the molding material based on the measurement; deriving an equilibrium pressure based on the plurality of parameters obtained from a first slowest cooling rate among the plurality of cooling rates.

The method includes the steps of: a) determining a theoretical volume Vt from process variables at least during a filling phase of the injection-molding process, b) determining and/or measuring at least one value for at least one compound pressure pM, c) selecting a material-specific compression k (p), corresponding to the value of pM, of the injection-moldable compound, and d) calculating an actual volume Vr by taking into account the compression k (p).

Method for Predicting a Polymer's Pressure, Flow Rate, and Temperature Relationship While Flowing within an Injection Mold

A method for predicting pressures in an injection molding system for molding plastic parts requires providing a mold that has at least one channel with each additional channel having a constant cross-sectional shape along its length and each channel having different thicknesses with a constant cross-sectional shape along its length. At least one first sensor configured to collect pressure data from each channel is provided. At least three second sensors configured to detect the presence of plastic located at known distances downstream of the at least one first sensor. Molten plastic is injected in each of the channels and sensor data is collected for the molten plastic flowing through each channel. A curve is fitted to progressive measured occurrences of pressure at the first sensor when plastic is first detected at each of the second sensors for each channel. Pressure can be predicted for a given flow rate, temperature, and channel thickness at, between, or beyond the measured occurrences.
