Systems and approaches for controlling an injection molding machine having a mold forming a mold cavity and being controlled according to an injection cycle include extruding a molten polymer according to an extrusion profile and measuring at least one variable during the extrusion profile with a first sensor. At least one extrusion operational parameter is adjusted based on the measured variable. The extrusion profile is terminated upon the molten polymer exceeding a first threshold, and the molten polymer is injected into the mold cavity according to an injection profile via a screw that moves from a first position to a second position. Upon completion of the injection profile, a recovery profile commences in which the screw is moved to the first position.

METHOD OF AND APPARATUS FOR INJECTING A LIQUID FORMULATION INTO A MOLTEN POLYMER
Injector (14) for injecting a liquid formulation into a molten polymer includes outlet (21) at one end and, at its other end, is arranged to be connected to upstream conduit (25) via a coupling housing (26) so that liquid formulation can pass from conduit into the injector, and further includes an elongate conduit (27) in which an elongate pin is slideably arranged being capable of expelling all liquid formulation from conduit. To address the risk the outlet could become blocked in use, whilst avoiding the need to depressurize and/or stop the flow or polymer in extruder (19), the injection apparatus includes a spool (34) which is rotatably mounted within wall (35) of the extruder and is arranged to be rotated about an axis which extends substantially perpendicularly to the elongate extent of the extruder through which a polymer stream (18) flows. The spool may be moved between a first configuration and a second configuration wherein a flow path is interrupted, but wherein molten polymer continues to flow in said polymer flow conduit.
SCREW EXTRUDER
A screw extruder for extruding a kneaded material includes a screw and a casing housing the screw and having a material supply port on an upstream side in an extrusion direction of the kneaded material and a tip-side opening on a downstream side in the extrusion direction. A pressure sensor for measuring a pressure inside the casing is provided between a downstream end of the supply port and the tip-side opening of the casing. A rotational speed of the screw is controlled depending on the pressure measured by the pressure sensor.

The invention relates to a method for the indirect determination of a specific formulation with an extrusion process in an extrusion device (10) comprising the following steps: determination of measurement data of at least one processing parameter of the extrusion process of the extrusion device (10), comparing the determined measurement data with saved data saved in relation to the specific formulation of the same processing parameter, determination of the deviation of the measurement data from the saved data of the same processing parameters and comparing of the deviation with a predefined deviation threshold.
SCREW-TYPE EXTRUDER
A screw extruder for extruding a kneaded material, includes: a screw; and a casing housing the screw and having a material supply port on an upstream side. The screw has a shaft portion and a helical flight portion provided on an outer peripheral surface of the shaft portion. Regarding a clearance between a top portion of the flight portion and an inner wall surface of the casing, the clearance at a downstream side end of the flight portion is larger than the clearance at a downstream side end of the supply port. No area where the clearance decreases from the upstream side toward the downstream side is present between the downstream side end of the supply port and the downstream side end of the flight portion.

The invention in relates in particular to a rubber composition able to be extruded to form an inner layer of a fuel hose for a motor vehicle, a method for preparing this composition, this hose and a fuel feed circuit of a motor vehicle incorporating it. This composition is based on at least one fluoroelastomer (FKM) and includes a filler and a micronised powder of at least one fluorinated thermoplastic polymer which are dispersed in said at least one fluoroelastomer. According to the invention, the composition includes said micronised powder according to a quantity greater than 20 phr (phr: parts by weight per 100 parts of elastomer(s)), and the filler includes at least one inorganic filler having lamellas which has an aspect ratio greater than 30 and which is based on a phyllosilicate chosen from kaolinite and micas, or is based on a talc.
TIRE TREAD PRODUCTION LINE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A TIRE TREAD
Aspects of the present invention relate to a tire tread production line and a method for manufacturing a tire tread. The production line comprises a coextruder, a THz sensor and a controller operatively connected to the coextruder and to the THz sensor. The THz sensor is configured to irradiate the multi-layer tire tread extrudate with THz electromagnetic radiation, and receive a response of the multi-layer tire tread extrudate to the THz electromagnetic radiation. The controller is configured to operate the coextruder based on the response of the multi-layer tire tread extrudate to the THz electromagnetic radiation.
EXTRUDER AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING RESIN PRODUCT
