TIRE WITH VARIABLE RIBBON SIZE TREAD AND SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME
20190329474 · 2019-10-31 ·

A method of manufacturing a tire tread includes extruding a rubber strip and conveying the rubber strip through an opening of a roller die. The opening is defined by an upper die and a lower die, wherein the upper die and lower die contact the rubber strip and define a cross-section of the rubber strip as the rubber strip is conveyed through the opening. The method also includes adjusting a distance between the upper die and the lower die as the rubber strip is conveyed through the opening. The method further includes applying the rubber strip from the roller die onto a receptacle that rotates about a receptacle axis. The method also includes translating the roller die in a first direction parallel to the receptacle axis while applying the rubber strip, thereby forming a spiral of the rubber strip about the receptacle.

Method and apparatus for air flow regulation comprise a vertically oriented conduit, a sail assembly positioned in the conduit and moveable therewithin responsively to air flow through the conduit to regulate rate of air flow through the conduit and to stop air flow through the conduit upon air flow rate through the conduit exceeding a preselected value with a detector for sensing when the sail assembly has stopped air flow thought the conduit as a result of air flow rate exceeding said pre-selected value.

Extruder including an improved homogenising member and method for extruding a viscous material

An Extruder for shaping a viscous material such as a blend of rubber is disclosed herein. The extruder includes a screw rotationally driven about an axis (XX) in a barrel and bearing one or more helical flights extending radially outwards from a central shaft of the screw, the extruder comprising a material homogenization zone (H) through which a screw portion comprising interrupted flight elements forming empty annular spaces extends axially, and a barrel portion delimiting the said homogenization zone bearing flight elements extending radially inwards into the said empty annular spaces. According to the disclosure, the barrel portion delimiting the homogenization zone is itself rotationally driven about the axis XX to form a rotary barrel.

SYSTEM AND A METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AN EXTRUSION LINE OF MIXED PLASTICS

A system and a method for controlling an extrusion line of mixed plastics, wherein a temperature of one or more heaters of the extrusion line is measured by one or more first sensors; a temperature and pressure of an extruder head is measured by one or more pairs of second sensors; a coolant temperature of a set of dies is measured by one or more third sensors; an amperage of an extruder motor is measured by an ammeter; a pulling speed of a pulling unit is measured by a tester; and wherein a computing device configured to receive the measurement data from the one or more first sensors, from the one or more pairs of the second sensors, from the one or more third sensors, from the ammeter, from the tester.

FILTERING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR OPERATING SAME
20190009448 · 2019-01-10 ·

The invention relates to a filtering device for filtering a fluid, and in particular a liquefied plastic. The filtering device includes a control unit to control the position of a screen carrier by generating control signals such that the fluid pressure in a fluid inlet channel and/or in a fluid outlet channel remains within definable pressure ranges while a cavity is being filled.

EXTRUDER COMPRISING A DEFLECTION ELEMENT FOR TARGETED FLOW AGAINST PERFORATED PLATE REGIONS
20190001527 · 2019-01-03 · ·

The invention relates to an extruder comprising a housing having a flow channel (1) for a melt and a perforated plate (2) delimiting the flow channel (1) on the outlet side, wherein an inlet flow element (3) having passage areas (4) and covering surfaces (5) is arranged so as to be movable ahead of the perforated plate (2) in the direction of flow of the melt in such a way that, when the inlet flow element (3) is moved, a first subset of holes in the perforated plate (2) is exposed and a second subset of holes in the perforated plate (2) is closed, wherein the covering surfaces (5) extend radially from the center of the inlet flow element (3) to the rim thereof.

EXTRUDER FOR PROCESSING POLYMER MELTS
20190001528 · 2019-01-03 · ·

An extruder containing a housing having a flow channel for a melt and a perforated plate delimiting the flow channel on the outlet side, where the perforated plate has at least two through-flow areas spaced apart from one another, each through-flow area contains at least one through-flow opening, and the perforated plate is furthermore mounted in a changing device, where the changing device has guide elements, in which the perforated plate can be moved substantially perpendicularly to the flow channel, and the extruder, directly ahead of the perforated plate when viewed in the direction of flow of the melt, has an inlet flow cone, which is structurally separate from the perforated plate, thus allowing the through-flow areas of the perforated plate to be moved relative to the inlet flow cone.

Injection molding controller interface with user-adjustable variables

An injection molding machine uses a native controller and a retrofit controller to effectively control its operation. The controllers may determine and/or receive information regarding the machine's maximum load capacity, and may also determine a current operational load value of the machine. The retrofit controller may cause the machine to operate at any number of combinations of settings of operational parameters which result in the machine operating at or below the maximum load value by adjusting any number of machine parameters associated with the injection molding machine based on feedback sensors measuring real-time operating conditions of the machine.
