Apparatus for producing flat-web products, and method for setting it up
An apparatus for producing flat-web products includes a slot die of which the gap and/or restrictor bar can be set via screws. At least one screwing device is provided for setting the screws, the screwing device including a cross member on which the screwing device can be moved to an fro. The cross member is fixably connected to the slot die on one side of the slot die. The apparatus has at least one bearing arrangement on the other side of the slot die. The at least one bearing arrangement permits a relative movement between the slot die and the cross member.
Automatic temperature rise control method for molding machine
A method for controlling temperature rise in divided heating zones of a barrel of a molding machine includes: setting tentative target temperatures for the respective heating zones; simultaneously raising temperatures in the heating zones to the set tentative target temperatures; when temperatures in the heating zones reach the respective tentative target temperatures, selecting a master zone from the heating zones, and selecting, as a slave zone, a heating zone which is other than the master zone among the heating zones; and after temperatures in the heating zones reach the respective tentative temperatures, raising the temperatures in the master zone and the slave zone to respective final target temperatures according to an attainment degree of temperature rise in the master zone.
METHOD TO DETECT AND REMOVE GAS BUBBLES FROM MOLTEN SUBSTRATE TO PREVENT HOLLOW FIBER FORMATION
Method and apparatus for removing bubbles from a molten substrate. The molten substrate from a furnace passes through a downtube to reach additional manufacturing tools, such as an extrusion bushing. One or more ultrasonic sensors are arranged along the downtube. The ultrasonic sensor(s) transmit ultrasonic energy into the molten substrate and measure a characteristic of the ultrasonic energy, such as a propagation time for the ultrasonic energy to be reflected back to the ultrasonic sensor(s). A bubble is detected when a change in the characteristic of the ultrasonic energy is detected. When a bubble is detected, flow through the downtube is diverted to a duct to remove a slug of molten substrate that includes the bubble.
