METHOD FOR IMPROVING THE REACTIVE EXTRUSION OF A POLYPROPYLENE PCR
A method for mechanical recycling of a polypropylene post-consumer resin may include adding a polypropylene-based masterbatch to a polypropylene post-consumer resin in a single screw extruder, wherein the polypropylene-based masterbatch comprises a low-reactivity free-radical generator compound having a half-life time greater than 20 h at 120 C.
Method for forming stratified rubber article with variable cure rate
A method of forming a tread comprising two or more layers of rubber is described. The method includes the steps of: extruding a rubber compound through an extruder and a gear pump and mixing with an accelerant and then applying a continuous strip of rubber directly onto a tire building machine to form a first layer of rubber having a first cure rate; adjusting the amount of accelerant to obtain a second cure rate different than said first cure rate, and then applying a strip of rubber having a second cure rate onto the tire building machine, wherein one of the cure rates is faster than the other cure rate.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING THERMAL EXPANSION ISSUES IN A CORRUGATOR
Pipe corrugators having opposed series of pushed mold blocks forming a moving mold tunnel are subject to significant thermal expansion and are designed with a thermal expansion gap. The present invention provides a method and apparatus for measuring changes in this expansion gap and preferably recognizing potential thermal issues before serious problems occur. A sensor is provided adjacent a mold block drive that preferably detects a time duration between sensing a trailing portion of a lead mold block and a leading edge of a following mold block separated from the lead mold block by the thermal expansion gap. This time duration in combination with a speed of the pushed mold blocks is used to calculate the size of the thermal expansion gap.
Extrusion method and apparatus
Improvements in the extrusion of thermohardenable materials are achieved by cooling the material in the initial zone of the extruder and reducing residence time by use of a prescribed length to diameter ratio and screw speed, particularly useful for intermittent application during robotically controlled mass production.
ULTRAHIGH TEMPERATURE, LOW SCORCH METHOD OF MAKING CROSSLINKABLE COMPOUND COMPOSITIONS
An ultrahigh temperature, low scorch method of rapidly making a crosslinkable compound composition comprising a homogeneous mixture of a thermoplastic polyolefin, antioxidant, and curative additives comprising one or more organic peroxides and one or more multialkenyl crosslinking coagents. The method avoids soaking towers and lengthy soaking times, and yet makes a fully crosslinkable, homogeneous compound composition with minimal or no premature crosslinking of the thermoplastic polyolefin(s).
Reactive Extrusion Composition, Method for Enhancing Mechanical Property of PLA/P(3HP) Blend and PLA/P(3HP) Blend Manufactured Therefrom
Provided are a reactive extrusion composition, and a PLA/P(3HP) blend having enhanced mechanical property manufactured therefrom.
Process for treatment of an initial polyethylene-containing material to produce a polyethylene composition for injection molding
Process for treatment of an initial polyethylene-containing material to produce a polyethylene composition comprising providing a twin-screw extruder with thermal regulation devices; providing an initial polyethylene-containing material comprising at least 50 wt. % of polyethylene based on the total weight of the initial polyethylene-containing material; extruding the initial polyethylene-containing material to obtain a polyethylene composition; wherein extrusion is performed with a residence time of less than 20 min; and recovering a polyethylene composition; wherein extruding comprises a thermal treatment of the initial polyethylene-containing material at a temperature of at least 300 C. in one or more hot zones of the extruder by self-heating to have a maximum barrel temperature ranging from 300 to 460 C. in at least one hot zone of the extruder.
Jacket marking and scoring system and method
An apparatus for marking and scoring an insulated wire or cable is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing enclosing a portion of a wire path, wherein the insulated wire or cable moves along the wire path through the housing; an upper splined gear rod and a lower splined gear rod within the housing; an actuator connected to the upper splined gear rod, wherein the actuator raises and lowers the upper splined gear rod; and wherein the actuator when lowered presses the insulated wire or cable between the upper and lower splined gear rods.
