Systems and methods for making composite structures
A system for depositing a composite filler material into a channel of a composite structure includes an end-effector configured to extrude a bead of the filler material into the channel. The filler material can comprise a first group of relatively long fibers, a second group of relatively short fibers and a resin. A drive system is configured to move the end-effector relative to the channel, and a position sensor is configured to detect the position of the bead relative to the channel. A controller is configured to operate the drive system in response to the detected position and to operate the end-effector to heat and compress the filler material so as to orient the longer fibers in a substantially longitudinal direction relative to the channel and the shorter fibers in substantially random directions relative to the channel when the bead is extruded into the channel.

A biaxially oriented multilayer film may include at least one sealing layer including at least a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE); and at least one core layer including at least a polypropylene copolymer. A biaxially oriented polypropylene multilayer film, may include at least one sealing layer comprising at least a polyethylene blend and at least one core layer comprising at least a polypropylene copolymer, wherein the polyethylene blend comprises at least a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and at least a high density polyethylene (HDPE).
MULTI-LAYER FILM WITH IMPROVED MODULUS PROPERTIES
The invention relates to a multi-layer, preferably co-extruded, plastic film with improved modulus properties, which is suitable, in particular, for producing three-dimensionally shaped articles.
Methods of in-line extrudate inspection and feedback control for honeycomb body manufacture
In-line inspection and control system to in-situ monitor an extrudate during extrusion. A light beam illuminates a line on the outside circumference of the extrudate skin recording the curvature. A master profile of the illuminated defect-free skin is recorded and compared to successive monitoring of the illuminated skin. Differences from the comparison indicate skin and/or shape defects. A real-time feedback to automatically adjust process control hardware reduces or eliminates the skin and shape defects based on the monitoring and comparison.
Coextrusion processes and products produced thererom
A method of coextruding polymeric materials into multiple layers of desired thickness to form a tubular workpiece. The method includes conveying a first polymeric material through a main extruder and a second polymeric material through a coextruder. The second polymeric material has dispersed therein an amount of electrically conductive particles effective to impart electrical conductivity to the tubular workpiece. The method further includes simultaneously extruding the first polymeric material and the second polymeric material through a coextrusion die to form the tubular workpiece. The tubular workpiece is extruded in the form of one or more outer layers having the first polymeric material and one or more inner layers comprising the second polymeric material. A tubular workpiece prepared by the method of coextruding polymeric materials into multiple layers of desired thickness. A system for coextruding polymeric materials into multiple layers of desired thickness to form a tubular workpiece is also provided.
Device and Method for Producing a Component by Means of 3D Multi-Material Printing and Component Produced Therewith
The invention relates to a method and a device for producing a component by means of 3D multi-material pressure and to a component part produced therewith, wherein metallic and ceramic pastes, mixed with powder and binding agents, for producing the component are applied in layers by means of an extrusion process and are shaped, and the printing process is monitored by means of a monitoring device in such a way that defects in the pressure are detected by means of a camera and the defects are eliminated and/or overfilling or underfilling of each printed layer in relation to the extrusion quantity is monitored by means of a camera and/or temporary blockages in the extrusion nozzle are detected by monitoring the pressure in the region of the extrusion nozzle and released by increasing the pressure. The device comprises a corresponding monitoring device. The device can also have a mixing and feeding device with a vacuum mixing container which is connected to a vibration device. The device can comprise a ceramic construction platform having a porous structure. The component has a lattice structure with beads which are deposited at a distance from one another on a plane.
Multi-layer film with improved modulus properties
The invention relates to a multi-layer, preferably co-extruded, plastic film with improved modulus properties, which is suitable, in particular, for producing three-dimensionally shaped articles.
Composite Radius Filler Manufacturing Methods and Related Systems
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods relating to the application of composite radius filler materials. An example material feed system includes a material container configured to contain a composite material and a material feed actuator. The material feed system also includes a nozzle coupled to the material container and a workpiece sensor configured to provide information about a workpiece. The material feed system also includes a controller. The controller is configured to receive, from the workpiece sensor, workpiece information. The workpiece information is indicative of at least one surface of the workpiece. The controller is also configured to, based on the workpiece information, cause the material feed actuator to apply a force to the composite material contained in the material container so as to extrude at least a portion of the composite material out of the nozzle and onto a surface of the workpiece.

A scraping device for a rotary press comprising at least one scraping element for scraping pellets located on a die plate of the rotary press to an outlet, wherein the at least one scraping element has at least one identification and/or position unit having identification and/or position data relating to the at least one scraping element, and wherein the scraping device further comprises a read and/or write unit which is designed to communicate with the at least one identification and/or position unit in order to read the identification and/or position data from the at least one identification and/or position unit. The invention also relates to a rotary press and a corresponding method.
Rubber Extrusion Device and Method For Manufacturing Rubber Extrudate
A rubber extrusion device includes a sensor which detects a deviation from a preset reference position of a rubber extrudate extruded from an extrusion port. Based on this detection data, a control unit provides control for correction of the deviation by adjusting a position of a die relative to a head along a leading end surface of the head or a rotational speed of a screw. A rubber material is mixed and kneaded while being extruded forward by a screw installed inside a cylinder. Resultant unvulcanized rubber is fed into an extrusion flow path and extruded from the extrusion port formed in the die.
