A method of manufacturing bulked continuous carpet filament which, in various embodiments, comprises: (A) grinding recycled PET bottles into a group of flakes; (B) washing the flakes; (C) identifying and removing impurities, including impure flakes, from the group of flakes; (D) passing the group of flakes through an expanded surface area extruder while maintaining a pressure within the expanded surface area extruder below about 25 millibars; (E) passing the resulting polymer melt through at least one filter having a micron rating of less than about 50 microns; and (F) forming the recycled polymer into bulked continuous carpet filament that consists essentially of recycled PET.

System and method for producing plastic products from recycled mixed plastic waste and plastic product

Disclosed are plastic products from a recycled plastic mix of unidentified, unclean and unsorted mixed plastic waste made with a system comprising thermal and mechanical processing of the recycled plastic waste using continuous extrusion foaming, two-phase cooling, continuous metering of the pulling strength and automatic adjustment of the pulling speed and extrusion speed.

METHOD FOR PLACING A SELF-SEALING PRODUCT ON THE INNER SURFACE OF A TIRE

The process includes a non-crosslinked self-sealing composition which is introduced into an extrusion means, the geometric and thermodynamic characteristics of which have been specially adapted. The speed and temperature conditions of the extrusion means are adjusted so that, at an application nozzle forming the outlet die of the extrusion means, the self-sealing composition is crosslinked. The application nozzle is brought close to the internal surface of the casing previously set in relative motion with respect to the application nozzle, and an extruded and crosslinked bead that has a given width and profile is deposited directly on the internal surface of the casing.

Extruding machine

An apparatus, such as an extruding machine, configured to form a sheath, e.g. insulative layer, over an elongate member, e.g. a wire cable including an extruder to apply the material forming the sheath, a drive mechanism configured to move the elongate member through the extruder at a line speed, a thickness sensor to determine the thickness of the material, and a controller. The controller is programmed to determine a deviation between the actual material thickness a desired thickness, determine a correction factor value based on the deviation between the actual thickness and the desired thickness of the material applied, and adjust the line speed, via the drive mechanism, based on the line speed, an extruder feeder speed, the correction factor value and a material factor value that is based on rheological properties of the material. A method of operating such an extruding machine is also presented.

Structured preforms for thermal drawing

A device may generate a multi-layer stack of sheets that may be adhered into a slab-shaped preform for thermal drawing. The sheets may include sublayers. Stacking the sub-layered sheets results in accumulation of layers in the final fabricated preform. The stacking process may use mechanical translation and conveyance to support placement of the sheets and fabrication of the stack.

Waterproof and Drainage Integrated Board Forming Machine, Waterproof and Drainage Integrated Board and Forming Process Thereof

Disclosed are a waterproof and drainage integrated board, a forming machine and a forming process. A rack is provided with a first concave roller, a convex roller, a second concave roller and a mirror roller, the convex roller rolls relative to the first concave roller and the second concave roller, and the mirror roller rolls relative to the second concave roller. A drainage layer substrate of the present invention is extruded from a first extruder head, immediately follows the second concave roller after shaping to a bottom part, and is directly fused with a waterproof layer just extruded from a second extruder head and formed. By adjusting a gap between the second concave roller and the mirror roller to apply a certain pressure for pressing and calendering, the drainage layer and the waterproof layer are integrated. A hollow boss has good strength, and a bottom surface opening thereof is also closed by the waterproof layer. Even if the boss breaks and leaks, the waterproof layer is present to prevent leakage. In addition, the substrate and the fused waterproof layer has double layer thickness, which further improves the strength and waterproofness thereof.

Method of increasing bubble stability of a polyethylene resin

A method of increasing bubble stability of a needful high molecular weight bimodal high-density polyethylene resin in need thereof, the method comprising subjecting the needful high molecular weight bimodal high-density polyethylene resin to a determined amount of oxygen tailoring of the resin so as to independently increase both the resin's melt storage modulus G (at G=3000 pascals) and complex viscosity ratio SH1000, and thereby make an oxygen-tailored high molecular weight bimodal high-density polyethylene resin having a targeted increase in bubble stability. The method uses a tailoring effective amount of molecular oxygen (O.sub.2) to achieve the desired oxygen tailoring. The method uses these advanced rheological properties from dynamic mechanical spectroscopy, but analyzes the data in a different way that is more sensitive to changes in resin composition and properties, and yet achieves a resin regime having a targeted increase in bubble stability.
