Preform with a concave bottom and an evolving thickness
Disclosed is a preform for a plastics container, which includes: a rotationally symmetrical body about a central axis; an open neck which extends in continuation of the body from an upper end of the latter; a bottom which closes the body starting from a lower end of the latter, the bottom being rotationally symmetrical about the central axis and having a central concavity and a protruding bulge around this concavity, the bottom having a thickness E, measured from an external face, that is variable in accordance with three different criteria respectively applied to three sections of the bottom, namely a central section [0; S.sub.1], an intermediate section [S.sub.1; S.sub.2] and a peripheral section [S.sub.2; L].
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FORMING FINAL-SHAPED CONTAINERS USING LIQUID TO BE CONTAINED THEREIN
A method, system, and preform for liquid forming of the preform into a final-shaped container using the liquid to be contained in the final-shaped container. The preform undergoes a stretching step to a size less than the size of a base of the final-shaped container, before being relocated and stretched to the final shape by the liquid. A stretch rod sealably connects with an interior surface of the preform to partially isolate a gate portion of the preform. The isolation is effected by a portion of the inner surface of the preform extending inwardly, or by a deformable member on the stretch rod which can selectively extend outwardly to contact the interior surface of the preform. The stretch rod includes a selectively heatable tip to heat the gate portion of the preform. The gate portion of the preform includes inner, outer, and core layers which comprise a material configured to affect the thermal properties of the gate portion.
Injection molded preform and manufacture thereof
An injection moulded thermoplastic preform for blow moulding to form a container, the preform comprising a lower closed base portion, a hollow body portion, a hollow transition portion between the lower closed base portion and the hollow body portion, and an upper open end portion adjacent to an upper part of the hollow body portion, wherein the closed base portion comprises a central portion which extends over at least 50% of an internal radius of a lower end of the hollow body portion and is either substantially flat or has a shallow concave or convex internal curvature, and the transition portion comprises an upwardly and radially outwardly tapering portion extending away from the central portion to connect to the hollow body portion, the tapering portion being inclined at an angle of from 1 to 20 degrees to a longitudinal axis of the preform and the tapering portion increasing in thickness from the central portion to the hollow body portion. Also disclosed is a method of injection moulding the thermoplastic preform.
Plastic container and base portion for plastic container
A plastic container includes a neck portion, a sidewall portion, and a base including a support ring that extends downward and is configured to support the container on a support surface; a first base portion that extends upwardly from the support ring; a second base portion that extends downwardly from the first base portion; and a reentrant portion that extends upwardly from the second base portion. In embodiments, the container can hold carbonated contents and the sidewall portion may be substantially smooth.
Resin container manufacturing method
The present application includes an injection molding step and a stretch blow molding step. The stretch blow molding step is configured to include: a first step in which preliminary blow air is introduced into a preform to stretch the preform in a state in which a stretching rod does not contact the bottom of the preform; a second step which is executed after the first step, and in which the preliminary blow air is introduced into the preform and the stretching rod is moved at a set speed and pressed against the bottom of the preform to stretch the preform; and a third step which is executed after the second step, and in which final blow air is introduced into the preform to stretch the preform.
Plastic container having pearl-like appearance and process for producing the same
This invention provides a plastic container characterized in that an expanded layer comprising expanded cells having a flat shape with an average major axis of not more than 400 m and an average aspect ratio (L/t) of not less than 6 as viewed in cross section of the container wall along the maximum stretch direction, which are oriented in the stretch direction and are distributed so as to be superimposed on top of each other in the thickness-wise direction, is formed within the container wall. In this container, expanded cells having a flat shape are distributed so as to orient in a given direction and, thus, has light shielding properties and has a pearl-like appearance, that is, has a very high commercial value. Further, since any colorant is not contained, the suitability for recycling is excellent.
Blow-molded syringe for use with an injector
A syringe for use in pressurized injection of a fluid is provided herein. The syringe includes a syringe barrel comprising a polymeric material having undergone expansion by stretch blow molding and by compression molding of an inner diameter of the barrel with a core member. In certain configurations of the syringe barrel, the stretch blow molding is provided through a nozzle of the syringe. Similarly, according to a further embodiment, a syringe for use in pressurized injection of a fluid is provided. The syringe includes a syringe barrel comprising a polymeric material having undergone expansion by stretch blow molding and by shrinking an inner diameter of the syringe barrel about a core member.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MAINTAINING AN INNER DIAMETER OF A PLASTIC CONTAINER
Methods and devices for manufacturing plastic preforms and plastic containers are provided. Methods of manufacturing a plastic preform having an inner undercut include forming a preform of plastic in amorphous state and inserting a plug within the mouth of the preform. The plug includes an upper plug member and an expandable element, the expandable element having an initial outer diameter in plan view with the plug in an initial condition and a deployed outer diameter in plan view with the plug in a deployed condition. Methods further include deploying the plug to the deployed condition with the expandable element positioned to engage a side wall proximate the inner undercut and crystallizing the plastic of the preform along the finish portion.
