HYDROGEL CONTACT LENSES WITH LUBRICIOUS COATING THEREON
20180079158 · 2018-03-22 ·

The invention is generally related to soft contact lenses which comprise a non-silicone hydrogel lens body and a hydrogel coating thereon. The non-silicone hydrogel lens body is composed of a hydrogel material which is free of silicone and comprises at least 50% by mole of repeating units of at least one hydroxyl-containing vinylic monomer. The hydrogel coating comprises a first polymeric material having first reactive functional groups and a hydrogel layer derived from a second polymeric material having second reactive functional groups, and the hydrogel layer is covalently attached onto the anchor layer through linkages each formed between one first reactive functional group and one second reactive functional group. The soft contact lens has a surface lubricity better than the lubricity of the non-silicone hydrogel lens body and has a friction rating of about 2 or lower after 7 cycles of manual rubbing, a water content of from about 10% to about 85% by weight and an elastic modulus of from about 0.2 MPa to about 1.5 MPa when being fully hydrated at room temperature.

PROCESS FOR PRODUCING CONTACT LENSES WITH DURABLE LUBRICIOUS COATINGS THEREON

The invention is related to a method for producing soft contact lenses comprises a silicone hydrogel lens body and a composite coating thereon. The composite coating comprises: a plasma base coating which is chemically-attached directly onto the surface of the silicone hydrogel contact lens and functions as a fail-proof measure for ensuring the hydrophobic silicone hydrogel lens material to be shielded from any exposure to ocular environments even after at least 30 days of daily uses including daily waring and daily cleaning/disinfecting; and a relatively-durable lubricious hydrogel top coating for ensuring wearing comfort. A method of the invention comprises forming a plasma-reactive hydrophilic polymer hybrid base coating having reactive functional groups on a silicone hydrogel contact lens and heating the silicone hydrogel contact lens with the hybrid base coating in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble and thermally crosslinkable hydrophilic polymeric material to form a stable lubricious hydrogel coating thereon. This method has a minimized adverse impact on the mechanical properties of silicone hydrogel lens body.

Manufacture Of Ophthalmic Lenses

A method of manufacturing an ophthalmic lens using a first mold portion and a puck assembly. The puck assembly comprises a carrier puck. The puck assembly supports at least one of the first mold portion and the lens during at least two of the following ophthalmic lens manufacturing steps: assembling the first mold portion and a second mold portion into a mold assembly including a lens-defining cavity containing a lens precursor material; curing the lens precursor material in the mold assembly to form a lens; separating the mold assembly such that the lens remains attached to the first mold portion; detaching the lens from the first mold portion; extracting unwanted material from the lens; hydrating the lens; inspecting the lens, and packaging the lens.

The present invention relates to improved contact lens products which not only have an improved and sustainable wettability. The contact lens product of the invention comprises a soft hydrogel contact lens immersed and autoclaved in a packaging solution including a polyoxyethylene-polyoxybutylene block copolymer and a high molecular weight copolymer of N-vinylpyrrolidone and at least one amino-containing vinylic monomer. The present invention also provides methods for making contact lens products of the invention.

SILICONE HYDROGEL LENSES WITH WATER-RICH SURFACES

The invention is related to a hydrated silicone hydrogel contact lens having a layered structural configuration: a lower water content silicone hydrogel core (or bulk material) completely covered with a layer of a higher water content hydrogel totally or substantially free of silicone. A hydrated silicone hydrogel contact lens of the invention possesses high oxygen permeability for maintaining the corneal health and a soft, water-rich, lubricious surface for wearing comfort.

CONTACT LENS AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

The present application relates to a contact lens and a method for manufacturing the contact lens. According to the contact lens and the method for manufacturing the contact lens in the present application, the expansion rate generated during the hydration process is low while having an intended water content, and thus, dimensional stability can be excellent and oxygen permeability may be excellent.

Method for making embedded hydrogel contact lenses

The invention relates to a method for producing embedded hydrogel contact lenses each having a magnetized insert that comprises magnetic particles and is centrally embedded in the bulk hydrogel material of the embedded hydrogel contact lens. During molding, a magnetized insert can be centered and held in position in a lens mold by using a magnet placed below the lens mold. The invention also relates to an embedded hydrogel contact lens produced from a method of the invention.

MOISTURIZED CONTACT LENS AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
20250018667 · 2025-01-16 ·

A moisturized contact lens and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. A lens of at least one quasi-contact lens is placed on a pallet of a modification processing machine for contact lenses. Then an electric arc generating unit is driven by a feed unit of the modification processing machine for contact lenses to remove impurities clogged pores of a lens of the quasi-contact lens and form circular grooves on surface of the lens of the quasi-contact lens. Thereby breathability, oxygen permeability, and hydrophilicity of the contact lens are restored. The circular grooves are for storage of tears so that wettability between eyeballs and the contact lens can be maintained for a long time and tear circulation is improved. Users won't have discomfort and dry eyes caused by insufficient moisture even wearing the contact lens for a long time and eye drops or artificial tears are not used.
