Cast Lens
An ophthalmic lens incorporating an optically functional wafer having improved adhesion to a polymerized polyurea-urethane bulk lens resin.
COMPOSITE FUNCTIONAL POLARIZED LENS
A composite functional polarized lens is a polarized lens in which lens substrate layers made of, for example, an allyl diglycol carbonate resin (produced by PPG Industries: CR-39), an urethane resin or other predetermined resin are integrally formed on both front and back surfaces of a polarizing film by way of insert molding, wherein a first lens substrate layer formed on the front surface of both the front and back surfaces of the polarizing film contains a light absorber which is an ultraviolet absorber, an infrared absorber, photochromic light absorber or a thermochromic light absorber as an additional component, and a second lens substrate layer formed on the back surface does not contain the light absorber.
Method for designing a mould for casting a semi-finished ophthalmic lens blank and computer program product for carrying out said method
A method for designing a mould (120) for casting a semi-finished ophthalmic lens blank, wherein the surface of the mould (120) is designed so that the surface of the mould fits a predetermined closed curve, wherein the predetermined closed curve is representative of the geometry of a gasket (160) to be used in association with the mould (10). A method for assembling a mould assembly (100) and a method for casting a semi-finished ophthalmic lens blank, and a computer program product including software code portions for performing steps of these methods are also described.
Polarized plastic lens for spectacles and method for manufacturing polarized plastic lens for spectacles
There is provided a polarized plastic lens for spectacles configured to be thin having almost the same thickness as the thickness of a normal plastic lens for spectacles, and a method for manufacturing the polarized plastic lens for spectacles, the plastic lens including a first lens base material having an object-side surface; a second lens base material having an eyeball-side surface; and a polarized film provided between the first lens base material and the second lens base material so that a minimum value of a distance between the polarized film and the object-side surface is 0.3 mm or more and 0.7 mm or less.
METHOD FOR PROVIDING A MALE MOLD HALF FOR MOLDING A TORIC OPHTHALMIC LENS AT A PREDETERMINED TARGET ROTATIONAL ORIENTATION
A method of providing a male mold half (1) for molding a toric contact lens at a predetermined target rotational orientation is disclosed. The male mold half comprises a front face (10) having a toric convex lens-forming surface (100) and a rear face (11) The method comprises the steps of: providing the male mold half (1) at a predetermined rotational orientation (PROM), picking the male mold half (1) up with a gripper (5) having a central axis (55), rotating the gripper (5) with the male mold half (1) about the central axis (55) of the gripper (5) by a predetermined rotational angle (α) towards the predetermined target rotational orientation (TROM), and releasing the rotated male mold half (1) from the gripper (5).
Prior to picking the male mold half (1) up, the method comprises centering the gripper (5) and the male mold half (1) relative to each other such that the central axis (55) of the gripper and a central axis (113) of the male mold (1) half coincide.
Molding device comprising mold shells and a gasket for manufacturing an ophthalmic lens configured to be worn by a wearer, such a gasket, and a method for manufacturing such a lens
A molding device includes mold shells and a gasket for manufacturing by molding an ophthalmic lens configured to be worn by a wearer, the mold shells each having a molding face and a peripheral side and the gasket including a closed loop portion sandwiched between the molding faces and remotely to the peripheral sides, thus forming a molding cavity of the ophthalmic lens inside the closed loop portion of the gasket, the gasket including a plurality of elongated positioning members each projecting externally from the closed loop portion and each being fastened on a said peripheral side of at least one of the mold shells, the elongated positioning members each having a respective length which is determined in function of an optical axis characteristic of the wearer.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR MULTISTAGE MOLDING OF LENSES
Apparatuses and methods for multistage molding of contact lenses containing low oxygen permeable components or oxygen impermeable components. Components may be embedded within a contact lens by forming a device on a polymer substrate, molding a spacer onto a male mold, bonding the device to the spacer, removing the polymer substrate, and molding the remainder of the contact lens.
