System and method for manufacturing cylindrical foam articles
The present teachings provide a system and method for producing a cylindrical foam article. The method can include coupling a first end of an outlet adaptor to a die, and coupling the die to a die housing of an extruder. The method can also include coupling a substantially cylindrical die outlet to a second end of the outlet adaptor, and substantially continuously extruding a polymer through the outlet adaptor into the die outlet to create the cylindrical foam article with a natural skin formed about a perimeter of the cylindrical foam article.
Method for creating a transition from an edge of an add-on part mounted on the outer surface of a rotor blade
A method for creating a transition from an edge of an add-on part mounted on the outer surface of a rotor blade, including the steps: delimiting an application area on the rotor blade surface and the add-on part to be covered by a sealant compound with a thin and smooth masking tape; dispensing of the sealant on the application area; distribution of the sealant; removing the masking tape; and smoothening of a sealant transition step with a flexible tool, is provided. A wind turbine rotor blade is also provided.
Article made from post consumer resin with smooth surface finish
The present disclosure provides a process. In an embodiment, the process includes providing pellets of a regrind material. The regrind material is a post-consumer recycle multilayer film (PCR multilayer film) having at least three layers. The PCR multilayer film is composed of (i) a polyethylene layer, (ii) a polyamide layer, and (iii) a tie layer. The tie layer is composed of maleic anhydride grafted substantially linear ethylene polymer (MAH-g-SLEP) having a Mw/Mn from 1.5 to less than 3.5 and a melt index from 0.5 g/10 min to less than 25 g/10 min. The process includes extruding the pellets to form an extrudate, molding the extrudate, and forming, with the extrudate, a molded article having a surface. The surface of the molded article has a surface roughness value, Sa, less than 1000 nm and a root mean square roughness value, Sq, less than 1400 nm.
Injection overmolding with heat/cool cycling for making optical lenses using 3D-printed functional wafers
Disclosed herein is an injection molding method for making optical thermoplastic lenses using 3Dprinted functional wafers. The method employs a variable injection molding cavity temperature that is heated to at least wafer Tg10 C.
COPOLYMER, FORMED ARTICLE AND INJECTION MOLDED ARTICLE
There is provided a copolymer containing tetrafluoroethylene unit and perfluoro(propyl vinyl ether) unit, wherein the copolymer has a content of perfluoro(propyl vinyl ether) unit of 6.2 to 7.1% by mass with respect to the whole of the monomer units, a melt flow rate at 372 C. of 28.0 to 35.9 g/10 min, and the number of functional groups of 20 or less per 10.sup.6 main-chain carbon atoms.
REDUCING SURFACE ROUGHNESS OF CURED THREE-DIMENSIONAL PRINTED OBJECTS USING A LOCALIZED HEAT SOURCE
Examples of the present disclosure are directed toward methods and system for reducing surface roughness of a cured three-dimensional (3D) printed object using a localized heat source. An example method includes applying a liquid solvent to the cured 3D printed object and heating the cured 3D printed object with the liquid solvent applied thereto to a temperature below a melting point of the cured 3D printed object using a localized heat source to reduce a surface roughness of the cured 3D printed object as compared to the cured 3D printed object prior to the application of heat.
THERMOPLASTIC RESIN FILM
Provided is a thermoplastic resin film having a haze of 13% or less, wherein a loop stiffness value in at least one direction on a film plane as measured by a loop stiffness tester is 140 mN/cm or more.
COPOLYMER, FORMED ARTICLE AND INJECTION MOLDED ARTICLE
There is provided a copolymer containing tetrafluoroethylene unit and perfluoro(propyl vinyl ether) unit, wherein the copolymer has a content of perfluoro(propyl vinyl ether) unit of 3.7 to 4.4% by mass with respect to the whole of the monomer units, a melt flow rate at 372 C. of 28.0 to 34.0 g/10 min, and the number of functional groups of 20 or less per 10.sup.6 main-chain carbon atoms.
Thermoplastic containers with improved aesthetics
A thermoplastic material and an additive that has a relatively low surface tension, allows for blow molding processing conditions that provides containers with a smooth exterior surfaces to enhance aesthetics.
CATHETER
A catheter includes: a catheter shaft; and a hub on a proximal side of the catheter shaft. The catheter shaft includes a shaft inner surface inclined portion at a proximal portion, the diameter of which increases proximally such that the shaft inner surface inclined portion forms an angle with the catheter central axis. The hub includes a first hub inner surface inclined portion continuous from the shaft inner surface inclined portion and inclined at the same inclination angle as the shaft inner surface inclined portion, and a second hub inner surface inclined portion proximal of the first hub inner surface inclined portion. The second hub inner surface inclined portion inclination angle differs from the first hub inner surface inclined portion inclination angle. The hub does not cover an inner peripheral surface of the catheter shaft in an interlock portion in which the catheter shaft and the hub are interlocked together.
