The subject invention includes a fixed window assembly for a vehicle comprising a fixed glass, a trim portion having a polymeric base and a decorative member bonded to the polymeric base. An encapsulation is coupled to the fixed glass and the polymeric base to mount the trim portion in a spaced and adjacent position relative to the fixed glass. A method of manufacturing is also provided using first and second molding apparatuses. Polymeric material is injected into a first mold cavity of the first molding apparatus to form the polymeric base bonded to the decorative member. Polymeric material is injected into a second mold cavity of the second molding apparatus to form the encapsulation coupled to the fixed glass and simultaneously coupled to the polymeric base to mount the trim portion in an adjacent position to the fixed glass.

The vicinity of the cut section has a structure in which threads of the stitches and the raw material of the skin material are melted by heat of the laser beam, mixed together, and solidified.

A method of making an iridescent, vehicular trim assembly is provided that includes: molding a polymeric base comprising an exterior surface; and over-molding an element over at least a portion of the exterior surface. The element comprises a polymeric, translucent material and an exterior surface with an integral diffraction grating having a thickness from 250 to 1000 nm and a period from 50 nanometers to 5 microns. Further, the molding can be conducted such that the polymeric base is molded with a tint. The method can also include forming a plated region over the exterior surface of the base. In addition, the method can also include cleaning the plated region with a plasma-etching process before the over-molding.

Also disclosed is a process for forming a thermoformed article that includes placing a covering in a mold tool as a first layer, placing a self-supporting structural base layer in the mold tooling as a second layer, closing the mold tooling with the covering and base layer, and co-injecting upon a side of the base layer opposite to the covering one or more secondary features.

The resin material includes a curved surface as viewed in a cross section orthogonal to a longitudinal direction of the vehicle door molding. A method for manufacturing the vehicle door molding includes covering a surface of the resin material with a film during transfer of the core member on which the resin material is disposed. The method further includes pressing an entire surface of the film with pressing members during transfer of the core member on which the resin material is disposed. The pressing is performed following the covering with the film. The pressing members are arranged at positions differing from each other in a transfer direction and a direction intersecting with the transfer direction. The method further includes separating the film from the resin material after the pressing.

The invention refers to a sealing and cover strip for the B-pillar of a passenger vehicle with a support cover and a decorative cover, which have a sealing profile for a lowerable side window on at least one of their common longitudinal sides. It is the object of the present invention to improve a sealing and cover strip of the type mentioned above in such a way that the assembly effort during production of the vehicle is reduced and also the optical appearance is improved so that the sealing profile consists of two sealing halves, one respective half being connected to the decorative cover and the respective other half to the support cover.
