Disclosed herein is a baffle for regulating airflow around an object. The baffle can be of unitary construction and can be made by a single shot injection molding process. The baffle can have an edge portion that is more flexible than the base portion. The baffle has also can have a base portion with a base portion thickness and an edge portion with an edge portion thickness that is less than the base portion thickness. A method of making a baffle by an injection molding process is also disclosed.

The molded foam comprises a tube body and a plate-shaped portion joined to the outer side of the tube body. The expansion ratio of the molded foam is lower than two, and a value of a thickness B/a thickness A as a relationship between the thickness A of the tube body at the periphery of a point joined to the plate-shaped portion and the thickness B of the plate-shaped portion is less than 2.82.

Active grille shutter in-tool assembly

A method of in tool formation and assembly of an active grille shutter system, followed by an automated testing process. The method includes providing a tool having a plurality of sliders that assist in the formation and assembly of the active grille shutter system. The components of the active grille shutter system are individually formed in a single tool, with each of the components being spaced apart from each other. After formation of the components a number of sliders and an end of arm tool push the components together to form the assembled active grille shutter system. The end of arm tool then takes the assembled active grille shutter system to a testing station where the operation is checked.

A vehicle component including a component body defining an aperture and including an outer textured surface surrounding the aperture on an exterior side of the component body; and a mesh extending over the aperture, a portion of the mesh being molded into at least a portion of the component surrounding the aperture, a surface of the portion of the mesh abutting the outer textured surface surrounding the aperture. A method includes disposing a mesh in a mold shaped for forming the plastic item, a portion of the mesh being disposed on portions of the mold having a textured surface surrounding at least a part of an aperture defining portion, the mesh being disposed in the mold over the aperture defining portion; and filling the mold with plastic, the mesh being molded in a textured surface of the plastic item formed by the textured surface of the mold.
