METHOD FOR DETERMINING WHETHER A SEALING AREA OF A PRIMARY PACKAGING CONTAINER FOR AN OPHTHALMIC LENS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR PROPERLY SEALING A FOIL THERETO

A method for determining whether a sealing area (13) of a primary packaging container (1) for an ophthalmic lens is unacceptable for properly sealing a foil to the sealing area (13) comprises the steps of taking an infrared image (7) of the primary packaging container (1); determining in the infrared image (7) a plurality of individual pixels (700-709) which are arranged along an area (73) corresponding to the sealing area (13) of the primary packaging container (1); determining from the infrared image (7) the temperature (T.sub.0, T.sub.1, T.sub.2) of the individual pixels (700-709), and determining that the sealing area (13) is unacceptable in case the following conditions are fulfilled: a) the temperature (T.sub.1) of each individual pixel of a predetermined number of coherently arranged individual pixels (700, 703, 706) is lower than a reference temperature (T.sub.0), and b) the difference between the temperature (T.sub.1) of each individual pixel (700; 703; 706) of the coherently arranged pixels (700, 703, 706) and the reference temperature (T.sub.0) exceeds a predetermined threshold.

A contact lens package includes a first package layer, a second package layer, a lens receiving area defined between the first and second package layers, and first and second seal portions. The first seal portion extends around a first portion of the lens receiving area. The second seal portion extends around a second portion of the lens receiving area. The second seal portion has different sealing properties than the first seal portion. The first seal portion may include a releasable seal between the first and second package layers, and the second seal portion may include a permanent seal between the first and second package layers.

Multi-layer injection molded container

A method for manufacturing an injection molded container includes operating an injection molding apparatus to inject one or more polymeric materials into a mold cavity to form a container. The container includes an energy director ring protruding from an inside surface of the container and extending circumferentially along the inside surface. The method includes welding a filter onto the inside surface by applying a welding force to the inside surface. The energy director ring causes the welding force to be concentrated at a location of the energy director ring, thereby forming a circumferential weld that secures the filter to the inside surface the location of the energy director ring.

PACKAGING CONTAINER WITH PREFORMED SEALING RING
