Method and Apparatus for Folding and Opening-Up Wipes
Apparatus is provided for manufacturing a wipe in a three-dimensional form out of an essentially flat piece of material. The apparatus produces a blank of essentially flat planar form with a pleat folded on each side. The folded blanks are fed by a conveyor belt to an opening station. The opening station comprises a pair of movable pinch rollers which selectively grab individual blanks from the conveyor belt and feed them via belts to a pair of counter-rotating drums. The blanks are ejected from the drums, which partially opens them up in the process. The partially open blanks are fed onto a shaped former, where the final process of forming the wipe into its chosen three-dimensional form is completed.
METHOD FOR FEEDING A WEB OF PRINTING MATERIAL IN A MANUFACTURING SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING PACKAGES
A method for feeding a web of printing material in a manufacturing system for producing packages, includes feeding the web from a web-fed printing press to a flat-bed machine for die-cutting or embossing while the printing press is in operation. An inserting device is used for winding the web onto an auxiliary wind-up device, moving a web-guiding element having a roller in a compensatory manner to achieve a temporary standstill of the web by converting a continuous movement of the web into an iterative movement by changing a speed of the web through changes of position of the roller, clamping the web while being cut by using a clamping unit, cross-cutting the web creating a cross cut edge by using a cutting unit adjacent the clamping unit, and inserting the web, cross cut edge first, into the flat-bed machine for at least one of die-cutting or embossing.
Web insertion device for a flat-bed die-cutting machine, manufacturing system for packages and method for feeding a web of printing material
A device for inserting a web of printing material into a flat-bed die-cutting and/or embossing machine includes a compensator for converting a continuous movement of the web of printing material into an iterative movement of the web of printing material. A clamping unit clamps the web of printing material, a cutting unit carries out a cross cut through the web of printing material, and an inserting unit transports the web of printing material into the flat-bed die-cutting and/or embossing machine. The device advantageously allows the web of printing material to be automatically clamped, cut and fed to the flat-bed die-cutting and/or embossing machine. As a result, no further stopping of an upstream printing press is required and the amount of waste is reduced. A manufacturing system for producing packages and a method for feeding a web of printing material are also provided.
ARTICLE HANDLING DEVICE FOR ERECTING CARTONS
A device for erecting a flat collapsed carrier, the device comprising a shaft (46) having a longitudinal axis (a). A hub (27) is mounted to the shaft. At least one limb (16a-c) is rotationally mounted to the hub by a pivot coupling. A tool head (14a-c) is mounted to the limb. A drive motor is coupled to the shaft for rotating the hub about the longitudinal axis. The device comprises a first drive mechanism for rotating the at least one limb with respect to the hub such that the distance between the tool head and longitudinal axis can be adjusted.
Method and system for forming packages
A system and method of at least partially forming reinforced packages. The method comprises moving a construct in a machine direction on a construct conveyor. The construct conveyor can comprise a primary lug belt with a primary lug, the construct can be disposed on the primary lug belt, and the moving the construct can comprise moving the primary lug belt in the machine direction to push the construct in the machine direction. The method further can comprise positioning a liner on the construct conveyor so that the liner at least partially extends over the construct and moving the liner in the machine direction on a secondary lug belt of the construct conveyor. The secondary lug belt can comprise a secondary lug and the moving the liner can comprise moving the secondary lug belt in the machine direction to push the liner in the machine direction.

UNIT FOR CONVERTING A CONTINUOUS WEB SUBSTRATE, AND PACKAGING PRODUCTION MACHINE THUS EQUIPPED
A conversion unit converting a first continuous web substrate (2) into a second substrate in the form of converted blanks of predetermined length (3). On account of cutting tool rotation speed, the web (2) moves at various speeds for cutting the web cut lengths and other aspects of cutting and transport process having a constant input speed. The unit includes a first motorized arrangement (4) for producing a first run driving (F) of the web (2), a sheeter (12) having rotary tools (13, 14) for cutting the web into blanks (3), a second motorized arrangement (17) for producing a second run driving of the substrate (2, 3), the second arrangement being positioned in the immediate proximity of the sheeter (12), and at least one station (21, 22, 23) having rotary tools (26, 27, 28, 29, 32, 33) for converting the blanks (3). A speed of rotation (38, 41) of the second arrangement (17) varies during a cycle of rotation of the tools (13, 14) of the sheeter (12), comprising a phase at constant tangential speed (46), substantially equal to the speed of rotation of the tools (13, 14) of the sheeter (12), during which the cut is made, a speed reduction phase (43), during which a length of the web (2), dependent on the difference between the length of the blank (3) and an extension of the periphery of the tools (26, 27, 28, 29, 32, 33), is kept upstream of the second arrangement (17), and a speed increase phase (44), during which the substrate (2, 3) is discharged downstream of the second arrangement (17).

The positive mold forms a top surface of the pressware product. The negative mold forms a bottom surface of the pressware product. The heating element is coupled to the positive mold or the negative mold. The actuator shifts the positive mold or the negative mold to cut and form the pressware product in a single stroke. The force sensor detects the forming force applied by the actuator, and the control system directs the actuator to adjust the forming force.
