A corrugated plastic box and a method for manufacturing a corrugated plastic box from a blank are provided. The method includes the steps of forming rounded edge seals on the perimeter edges of the blank, pre-sealing portions of the blank to form a plurality of areas in which major and minor flap slots and a glue tab are desired, ultrasonically scoring the blank to form a plurality of flap score lines, and cutting the blank through the plurality of pre-sealed flap slots and glue tab, leaving a sealed edge.

The invention relates to a line for manufacturing packagings (2) producing folding boxes (CA1, CA2) from plate elements (4), which comprises a feeding station (20), a shaping unit (33) which consecutively shapes the plate elements (4) by slitting, scoring and cutting operations, provided with pairs of shafts (230.sub.a-233.sub.a, 230.sub.b-233.sub.b) and a cutting unit (24), which engage to produce, in the shaped plate element (3), two juxtaposed folding box layers (P1, P2), arranged transversely to the direction of transport (FD), which are associated in series, and connected to one another by attachment points (45), a folding/gluing unit (26) which forms folded assemblies (5) by folding and gluing the shaped plate elements (4), a counting/ejection unit (27) which forms stacks of folded assemblies (6, 7), and a unit (29) for separating folding boxes comprising means arranged to produce, by breaking the attachment points (45), two separate batches (8.sub.1, 8.sub.2) of stacked folding boxes from each stack of folded assemblies (6, 7).

Dual box slotter
Arrangement for cutting notches in box blanks fed along a feeding direction. A feeding portion feeds box blanks. At least a first-fourth cutting devices along the feeding direction. The first is arranged most upstream and the fourth is arranged most downstream. Each device includes: a first wheel rotating around a first axis transverse to the feeding direction, the first wheel being on a first side of the blanks; a second wheel rotating around a second axis extending transverse to the feeding direction parallel to the first axis, the second wheel being in the same plane as the first wheel on an opposite side of the blank; and a cutting element cutting notches. The cutting element extends from either the first or the second wheel towards the other. A control unit controls the operation of the first-fourth devices for different operation combinations.
